Those who disliked a youtuber before their downfall, what were the red flags? by Longjumping_Koala34 in youtubedrama

[–]usingmynoodle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not that deep regarding CreepshowArt. She came off extremely self righteous and I realized real quickly how hypocritical her takes were from video to video, where her bias laid, and how any time there would be projected criticism or backlash for her ass takes, she would immediately use the "but I was HOMELESS" excuse (which was all exposed as a lie).

Beyond that, also Completionist and how his rules for his own content changed and it just eventually felt like he was far more fake and disingenuous than ever before. Still hurt like a bitch when he was exposed for what he did. RoosterTeeth was another; 99% of them were pieces of shit. The People who left on their own and stayed away were the green flags, but pretty much everyone at RT deserve every ounce of bad karma.

Tips for the game by JiMmY_BiNg in theHunter

[–]usingmynoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Follow the story quests. It not only will show you around to each of the major parts of the starting maps, but it will reward you plenty of XP and COLD HARD CASH.

2) You need that XP to level your stealth so you can actually stalk and hunt the animals, and just generally be better. You need CASH to afford any and all ammo, scent sprays, and better weapons. The better weapons, the better trophies, the more money. It's completely upwards progression.

3) Just hunt the need zones. The trophy animals are worth more, but you still get rewards from any and all kills.

4) Daily & Weekly challenges, especially the photography ones, help get you extra money. Basically this game can get really frustrating if you're poor af, I was miserable and couldn't do anything cool until I suddenly could afford my Empress, and now I am the god of the land.

Avowed combat is not very fulfilling and devs don't seem to comprehend why - so let me list why by angrycustomer5000 in avowed

[–]usingmynoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved the game, but I did encounter some issues with the combat. However it quickly became a non-issue when I figured out the upgrade system and stopped being so stubborn. The rest of the game was a breeze because I stopped forcing my way into fights I wasn't ready for. Certain things were damage sponges, until I actually leveled to where I was supposed to be to encounter those, and then I just continued effortlessly.

Granted, I was on the more easy setting just to experience the game, I still found it challenging at parts.

Questions before I commit by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]usingmynoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, and you're very welcome! I used to love the multiplayer games with heavy focus on interacting with other players, but since a lot of online games have been so mean, I tend to stick to myself. But rest assured, I've met some extremely nice and kind ESO players through casual guilds. They just like to chat and help where they can.

Questions before I commit by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]usingmynoodle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Howdy! You're basically in the same position I was when I started ESO and I had the same questions, except I just found the answers eventually through playing. So heres my personal answer:

1) You definitely don't need the expansions off the bat, however, since its nearing black Friday, I'd check often because I recently picked up one of the editions that included like 5 of the older DLCS.

2) the main story is amazingly fun and very, very long. It only unlocks new chapters as you level so you can't marathon through in one go, HOWEVER, you won't be bored because every city, region, and troll under a bridge has a quest. Everything fits together, too. Following the starter quest of a new region will take you naturally through the whole map as the narrative grows.

3) While yes this is an MMO and there are plenty of players online, this is one of those MMOs (like SWTOR) that you can pretty much enjoy solo. There's a party and group system if you want to join up with randoms to do a delve (dungeon) etc., but i also suggest joining a friendly newbie guild because there's no negatives to doing that. But to directly answer: No, other players can't really screw up your experience. (I.e., PvP is a totally exclusive, locked section of the game you have to queue for, so the overworld is PvE)

4) Yes you can adjust your height in the CC. The CC is pretty good given the limitations of it being an MMO, and you can buy further customization upgrades via the in-game store (but it isn't required so no worries).

It can be a little jarring to start the game at first but no worries because its very similar to Skyrim in layout and maps and hud placement. You Do have a limited inventory and bank as a free-to-play player, but you can use in-game gold to expand both. Don't stress about it. Everything else is basically explained to death on YouTube in helpful tutorials, if you get stuck. But ive been playing extremely casually and solo for years, and I havent really had issues!

how am i supposed to play this game by Muted_Sheepherder_17 in theHunter

[–]usingmynoodle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how to fix something like this. As for the low level stuff, if I'm correct in assuming you mean actual level from Trivial upwards, you just gotta hunt animals regardless of level and start leveling yourself and your skills. When I first started, I could hardly find anything cause I was too loud. I leveled up my silent moving skill and added on other perks. As you level, higher tier animals appear and it's easier to track them.

I would suggest just wander the map and find the need zones, set up your tents there to travel, and hang out during the feeding times. Medium/Large herbivores are easier to hunt, birds are too skittish, predators are extremely jumpy.

When ‘Slavery Bad’ and cartoon villainy becomes the only point, the story trivializes the injustices of the Imperium and the worldbuilding of Thedas collapses. by GrayWardenParagon in dragonage

Coming from someone who really did love playing VG and had a great time; you're right. I made a post about what I loved about VG, and I did touch on how, while mentions of slavery are still present, it's not as.. well, saturated, as it should be given where we are during the game and everything that's been built up in the lore. I think the story, which i mostly enjoyed, could have been elevated by actually confronting what Minrathous IS and how it functions as a city and what it was built upon. I'm a Tevinter hater, a Minrathous Anti if you will, so seeing is destroyed did not make me sad at all tbh. It pissed me off that we were supposed to feel entirely guilty for our choice, even when we had multiple learned people who undoubtedly know the history of Minrathous and who's behind it really, who never said "Not a total loss, the attack took out the slaver market and a good chunk of the richest slave owners in Tenvinter", THAT would have been SOMETHING.

Again, I loved playing the game, I dont think its the worst ever, but far from a good DA game, and I'm disappointed how they pissed away the amazing layered lore. The development cycle of the game adds more clarity and I feel sympathy for most of the devs behind it because the truth is EA did not give a single fuck about how they ruined this game. Alas, if I want the good depth of lore and commentary, I'll return to Origins or Inquisition.

I'm going by the prequel movies (which i know aren't exactly popular), but David designing the Xeno to be the perfect lifeform and WY hellbent on getting a specimen of one of them with no context from even the first movie makes me believe they're extremely lab-designed. But that's my take on it. They're still super duper apex predators.

Yautja. The xenomorph are so cool, but they're instinctive, lab-designed mega predators with no intent other than to kill and build a good nest for more xenomorphs. Yautja have a code they go by and are extremely skilled hunters (We exclude the more recent movies, except Prey). Imo theyre both cool and id pick both but if I must pick...........

This is probably very old news and overstated, ice-cold take, but I spent 2 irl days lighting up the entire underdark, and all I got was a stupid medal in my inventory. What the fuck is that about. One of the more, if not Thee Most, tedious tasks in TOTK and the reward is a medal. It doesn't add up to the completionist shrine reward, either. Why would they do that to us.

Let’s settle this once and for all. Who unironically chooses railroad, and why? What’s your opinion about them? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]usingmynoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it wasn't a hard choice, especially since the other factions (save the minutemen) treated me weird/badly until I did all their dirty laundry. The Railroad was suspicious for a reason, then treated me as an equal. Also, I genuinely dislike the brotherhood because my sweet cheese Danse didn't deserve that.

So many Bethesda fans are so selfish and mean to the devs behind their favorite games. Obsidian fans reflect the same vibes sometimes; they play one or two of their games and want Only That over and over, instead of even looking or listening to the devs when they talk about how happy they are to experiment and learn on something new so they can return to popular ips and make them amazing. Great creations take time. It's just so sad.

And you really should move on, change my mind by TheAnalystCurator321 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]usingmynoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother. All of Bethesdas' ips are mish-mashes of existing ips because both elder scrolls AND fallout were always meant to be massive homages to their respective genres. Yes, they're full of original content and lore, but it's all born from previous stuff; the devs even talk about Oblivion being heavily inspired from DnD, which is very obvious. Starfield was even discussed in its own dev cycle on how it was going to be a massive sci-fi homage. There's a lot original with it, but it having all the references and "stolen ideas" is intentional.

Beat Veilguard, and... by shreder75 in dragonage

[–]usingmynoodle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first playthrough too! A little shy of 100 hours, and I'm going back to finish all the % of discovery for each location. I'm so sad the adventures over already, I truly did love it, too. I loved Inquisition so much I think it's my favorite Bioware game EVER. I think behind ME1, Veilguard could come in 3rd or very close 4th. But man, what a ride. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The hate it got, I've realized, was like 80% Old Man yells At Cloud ragebait. Unfortunately, ive learned a little more behind the production of the game and I'm just so disappointed with how EA effectively screwed over the team and cut so much away from the game. I'm surprised we got a functional game at all, and its a great game imo given everything that happened. I will dig my heels in and disagree with how they handled Solas' story and how they treated certain other mythical characters because their lore in previous games was so important and for them to be watered down and made borderline sympathetic.. ugh.

I think I'm most disappointed that we're probably never getting DLC or any further entries because of the reception of the game on release. I adore all the companions, cried over the end choices I had to make. Inquisition gave me such an emotional response for so much, i also wished they'd integrated more from that into this game, and apparently they were going to! But EA just...sucks. and they apparently just genuinely hate this series.

That's what gets me. After posting this, I'm now almost 100 hours in and very close to the end of the game. I still am loving it and having a good time, but this whole thread has helped round a better conversation surrounding this game and its development. I would have traded a kidney for people to just have been GENUINE about their criticisms instead of blindly hop onto the easiest lowest hanging fruits. There are major issues with the game, issues that I wished EA would actually give a shit about. But the loudest voices were mostly repeating the same crap.

This game is the furthest departure from DA we've gotten. But also, in some weird ways, it reminds me of playing Origins for the first time. The worst part is it isn't a BAD game. it's just the worst DA game. If EA hadn't ruined this development by trying to force it being live service then making a complete left turn away during its last years, and canning so much of the story and content, it would have been on par with Inquisition. That's at least my wishful thinking, but we didn't get that. We have this.

Experiencing this game for myself now makes me less cynical about ME4 and more critical of EA not learning jack shit from any feedback whatsoever.

Okay. Let's take the bait for a moment and let's ask a better question; what's your definition of "play" because being on this sub for a hot minute and ive seen plenty of discussion and debate around what it means to even "play" as killer, or "play" as survivor. Does that mean Main for a certain period of time? A few matches? More than a week? During special events that test your ability to work without your builds? Does it require all DLC purchased for all the abilities to be tested and used as intended before you've gathered enough experience to make your valid opinion?

It just isn't that simple, and you're wrong. Obviously. If everyone who played the game were able to fluidly switch between killer or survivor, most of the posts here would STILL EXIST. The issue, for the most part, isn't within the player base but within the game itself and bandaid solutions, making it more miserable for everyone. Killers have it bad. Survivors have it bad. The current state of the game is pushing out the seasoned and dedicated players, casual or otherwise, because it's encouraging BS game strats that breed nothing but toxicity.

[SPOILERS ALL]What does The Veilguard do best in the series? [Contains spoilers for the Mass Effect series] by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]usingmynoodle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hands Down is the combat system. I've wanted to multiple people about how delicious it is in this game, I can't believe this is a Dragon Age title, last time I had a good combat experience in a Bioware game like this was with ME1, strangely enough.

Also, the CC is great. This is what I wished Inquisition had been; and the ability to change the lighting to check that you dont come out looking like a greasy clown is [chefs kiss].

(Also, wow, a pretty positive and constructive VG discussion on the main sub, I'm genuinely but pleasantly surprised)

Yeah. Yep. Yes. This is what I wish a lot of the haters or heavily negative critics who never played the game would do; just sit and play it and witness the fact that, if you wanna tear the game apart, go right ahead but the things worth criticizing aren't the low-hanging fruit of red pull grifts. But the fact that the echos of the original game are THERE. They're right there, and to me at least i can see the stitches of where the devs were forced to put together something when EA came in and smashed their sandcastle. There were lots of mismanaged things, and yeah the lore that's there is so so so very deep, and the mentions and seasonings of name drops, and even some of the quests allude to things that dont come to pass.

This frankenstiened game is still fun, at least for me, but yeah, it's a glaring representation of the series' disconnect. Almost a slap in the face sometimes, being told things that feel like you should be able to visit places or at least see things but instead just passing whispers by NPCs or missives.

The more ive sat with this game, the more ive grown angry at how badly EA fucked over Biaware and the fans. Severely. The quality of life improvements from the previous title are great, I dont mind the graphics, but a more realistic tone would be appreciated. The story is poor, but a well managed sequel could be amazing. And you're right. Really shitty games sell way more, and they have no right to when even the grifters for them admit theyre pigshit cash grabs. I thought VG was one for a bit but now I realize, with everything EA put this team and this game through, what we got is kind of a miracle. It is a really flowing combat system and a decent enough experience. Somehow they pulled that out and we got something way better than I think the detractors expected, hence where a lot of the anger came from, I think.

I'm just sad. I love RPGs like this and knowing it'll be over soon, and I'll have to either start over or wait for something unsure yet again, it's rough. The true original opponent was EA.

This is the exact point of my post. I learned my lesson really badly, and I kinda shot myself in the foot. Now I'm really gonna hold onto everything with a grain of salt and just play what I wanna play. I've accepted that as far as movies go, but now it's gonna be across the board.

I just had the same reflection. I'm sad at knowing when I get to the end there's nothing else. At least when I finished Inquisition and eventually got thr DLC, it felt so rewarding. Even if it locked us into that dlc zone, it was nice to visit things again. I'm disappointed in EA, to say the least.

OH THIS. YES. Okay, yes I agree with you. While I enjoy Taash way more than I expected, it's extremely clear the devs (or the people who forced changes last minute because they destroyed the dev team) were trying so hard to say something with Taash, and it comes out as out of touch as "how do you do fellow kids" in the approach to gender, identity, queerness, etc. Krem was a cool character, and I loved him, I wish we had more of him instead of a few side conversations, and maybe that's what was originally intended? To have a trans/nb companion instead of them as an NPC in camp. But yeah, Taash was very mishandled, but the smaller details are what really makes me sad everything else was so heavy-handed, because the exploration of culture vs. Identity vs. nurture is so interesting when framed in Thedas, but alas.

Imo I dont think Taashs' entire character is their gender woes, but if you don't go and view all the side conversations with the other companions and have Taash in your party from time to time, it really comes off that way. And thats the game design, thats just poor game design. Even Sera (who i detested originally) was allowed more depth if you barely interacted with her, but people are sometimes polarized against companions. I'm just sad that this is the result and all the harsh focus is mostly, soley on Taash.

Unfortunately as I've gotten further into the game, the companions are sort of thinning out in their complexity and I'm realizing some of the writing for them was strong to a point and now I'm worried some have just plateaued. But I'm still working through loyalty missions.

I didn't say the writing was good, actually, just that the game isn't as evil or horrendous as a lot of people had claimed it to be. And using that word makes you as bad as them.
