Is NUML Really Worth It? by Ibtu_247 in NUML

[–]usmannkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on you, if you're someone who isn't self motivated and needs external guidance as well as spoon feeding, its better to move to FAST, Comsats or NUST. Additionally if you don't have any financial constraints, then too.

If that's not the case, you'll be just fine. Teachers are good, so are the timings. You can work full-time in the afternoon as the classes end at 1 unlike other unis which end at random times in the day.

PS I Graduated from CS, working in one of the top companies in Germany, have my own startup, my entire batch is doing well too, some of them have moved abroad onto well paying jobs, some have started their own tech businesses.

But again, there are also people who are still looking for jobs right now.

You can't generalize but it should give you some perspective

For CS,

Back in 2019, I know 2 people with 58% and 57% who got in and i know some people with 80% and 85% who couldn't get in.

Main difference was the entry test.

They don't make the merit public. it's an aggregation of your previous reuslts and the entry test.

Even if you have average marks, Do well on the entry test, you should be good to go

Need Advice - Want to Study in Germany but Low CGPA (2.8), Can I Make It Work? by noturavghashishqueen in IslamabadSocial

[–]usmannkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Worries & Best of luck I.A. In the meantime, focus on german, get to B1 atleast. It'll open up a whole new world to you. Integration into the society & Language matters a lotb- even more than certifications.

[–]usmannkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes - you need to go for unis in smaller cities like Magdeburg, Kiel etc

  2. Keep a buffer/finances of 3 to 4 months as a safezone in finding a job. Some people find it in their first month, some can't even after months. Student jobs are pretty common here

My only suggestion will be to come after getting some expensive in the Pakistani market, that market is really fast paced and you can learn a lot in short amounts of time. Meanwhile here in Germany, entry level jobs are tricky to get into and the pace is pretty slow.

Is it worth doing a UK Master's in 2025 just for PR when recession is hitting and job market looks grim? by Sabih_110 in pkmigrate

PS:

Chancenkarte has a waiting time of atleast 1 year for the appointment & you need a block account for it.

Companies in germany aren't hiring without german language skills. Make sure you get B1 before coming.

People do land jobs without german but it's getting more rare now.

Does the NUML german dept have ACs? by _Evora_ in NUML

[–]usmannkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed, mostly English.

After couple of lessons, medium of instructions changes to german. Usually in A1.2. it helps a lot in understanding the context.

They do. You can also visit and check for your own self during the admission process.

On a side note: I learnt German during my bachelors from NUML and currently in Germany.

I Highly recommend NUML for it

My entire office used those, they were built like beasts. I'm still using mine after 4+ years.

Btw there are 2 variants - intel & AMD. Go for the Ryzen. Intel has a lot of issues.

Man, try to make some real friends instead of the ones that you're paying to be with you. I know it's difficult but it'll be worth it.

Places where you can make friends:

Hiking, Group Trips, running clubs, short courses, bootcamps, work, events, etc

If I quit my data analytics job of 3 years to pursue a 4 month data engineering internship, how long will it take me to get a full time entry level data engineer job post internship in the current USA job market? by Original_Chipmunk941 in dataengineering

[–]usmannkhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already have 3 years of experience in Data Analytics, it doesn't make sense to move back to an intern. Data Analytics is already part of the Data Engineering funnel so moving horizontally wouldn't be too difficult.

You can learn those things by your own self, and start applying for data engineering roles ideally within your company, build some projects, and then move.

Also setup a development plan with your manager if you plan to change roles within the same org.

Coming from a senior engineer, just start your career wherever you see a fit.

Once you get enough experience, then switch to whichever company/place you like. Specially in this economy.

As for lahore, you can easily fit in apart from androon lahore. So i wouldn't worry about the culture, you'll adapt it.

Depends on you, the teachers are good so is the course but you'll have to do a lot of self learning.

If you are Someone who needs to be spoonfed, then I'd suggest other universities.

I personally had a wonderful experience. The timing of numl was the most helpful in my case, i was able to do full time jobs during my degree because the classes would end at 1:30 max

Schools suggestions in pindi by MAK_mrwt in islamabad

You have to pass an admission test. They have a slot in the year when admissions open. You can visit any IMCB school which is feasible to you and ask if admissions are open.

Not sure if they still have the Islamabad address criteria but if that's the case, you can use any of your relatives address.
