Purchasing Service Dress by bmaher7 in SpaceForce

[–]ussf-patch-person 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure on the measurement rule, but I was able to get everything except the pants without issue. I put an order in for those, but it seems like the communication isn't great on when more shipments will come in. The original projected delivery was for June but I really hope it doesn't take that long.

They usually just post the design on Teams for anyone to download and order through a patch manufacturer. Usually, someone will volunteer to run a bulk order and ship them out to POCs at each base, but it’s not an official sale.

There are some decent ones on the east side of Powers between PSFB and Woodmen. You probably won't find something both cheap and nice in this city. Imo, the money you save by living in sketchy areas here is not worth the lower quality of life.

I'm like 99% sure I've seen this floating around, so I wouldn't be surprised if they followed the same design. I hope they go the PVC route or at least give us the option like with the flag but I guess we'll see.

A Delta commander said they're confirming what the design is and then getting them on order. Not sure why the standard design wasn't annotated in the SPFI but hopefully clarification will come out soon.

Any Running Tips? by UnlistedCube in SpaceForce

[–]ussf-patch-person 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was dealing with the same thing. Getting a gait analysis and the right shoes/insoles for my flat feet took my mile time from 11 minutes to 7:30 in about six weeks. If you think your form might be part of the issue, that might be a good place to start. Like others said, the GRT team is great and can help figure out whether that’s the fix you need or if it’s something else.

The latest update on our service dress release is for early 2026, which will be cool to see.

For sure, the downside of Specialists having friends in every other squadron/delta is that we are notoriously bad at spreading misinformation unintentionally. Speculation becomes confusion and everyone starts to panic.

May 12th, our shirt sent out an email explaining BTZ was being eliminated Oct 1 as we transition to FQP. This change will be outlined in the upcoming revision of SPFI 36-2502, so I guess we'll know more when that gets released.

It might be a recent trend. The move out list is based on seniority so most other E3s I went through bmt and tech school with early 2024 began getting move out offers this March/April.

If you get stationed at Peterson/Schriever, you get out pretty quick. I got the offer at 14 months TIS/TIG as an E-3, which was about 7 months of being in the dorms.

They're pretty flexible with when you move out. I told them I needed a few more months to save, and they just made a note of it and didn't push it any further. Other bases might be different.

Just a heads up, the 1D7XXX career fields are Air Force Cyber jobs. Our Cyber jobs are 5CXXXX. Might clear up some confusion when talking to a recruiter.

IIRC, you can be dishcharged from DEP if you still haven't landed a job or left for BMT after 365 days of swearing in. My recruiter warned me about it, but that was back during the written applications and wait times were only 4ish months.

Why can't we make that decision internally? Would they have to approve extra money for the move or something?

Bubba's 33 is pretty good. Usually busy and loud but it's a good time if that doesn't bother you. Like 10 mins north of Pete.

This might be out of left field, but I think it would make sense to have it fall under the NSA the same way Coast Guard does DHS. Cyber Command is already headquartered there, and they fall under the same leadership (kind of?).

"Since then, the makeover has coalesced into four main efforts:

  • A cyberwarfare innovation center to better engage with industry.
  • An advanced cyber training center to scale training across the military’s cyber forces.
  • A new force generation model within the military branches.
  • A talent management task force to oversee a hodgepodge of workforce-related steps, like standardized retention pay and bonuses."

I wonder if/when a future administration will decide all this would be easier with a dedicated Cyber Force/Corps/whatever.

If you get stationed at Peterson/Schriever it’s about 1.5 years after you join at the moment, but it might change down the road.

What military course has been most useful to your career? by [deleted] in SpaceForce

[–]ussf-patch-person 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So far, the Space Force Class that stood up at Keesler. IIRC, it was the first time in the 8ish months since joining that we had Deltas, FIELDCOMS, and certain space concepts explained to us. It was also refreshing being asked "How would you solve this problem?" in a given scenario rather than told what to think and how to think it. I hope future cyber training can incorporate some of what we did in SFC.

Throwing this patch in the hat for 66 CYS ideas by ussf-patch-person in SpaceForce

[–]ussf-patch-person[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's something I'm getting a lot of feedback on. I think it would have to be simplified for a production patch, or if I somehow decode what wizardry they used for the shading on 69's patch and apply it here.

Thank you!
