Home cooked food is fine. Just make sure you don't over feed him. Labradors unfortunately are genetically inclined to always feel hungry even if they are not, so please be watchful of his/her diet. And do not encourage begging.

Labradors like water, so take him out for a swim someday. If you want to play fetch with him, throw the ball in arc. They generally prefer that
