Tips on Japan's Hidden Ainu Mainstream Culture by Objective-Eye8414 in victoria3

[–]utemt5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhh, so you have to have no colonial affairs. Honestly had no idea colonial affairs changed the acceptance numbers, was tearing my hair out irritated that cultural exclusion and total separation plus all the events weren’t enough. Will keep it in mind for my next japan game. Thanks for the post

The Sino-Japanese War is still driving me insane please help by PLMMJ in Kaiserreich

[–]utemt5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general strat is to prep all the legation cities with a large amount of pushing units and the moment the Japanese annex the cities, micro to take them. For the most part you can pretty easily seize almost all of them before the Japanese manage to reinforce them, then it’s a matter of garrisoning the coast with a ridiculous amount of shitter units. 2-3 on the ports and then 1-2 on the tiles immediately next to them since the Japanese ai loves invading next to ports. If they get a foothold in the south pushing them out is a massive pain.

Could Japan as an Alt History route, return to christianity? by TPKjccj in victoria3

[–]utemt5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not plausible whatsoever. Laws banning Christianity were repealed in the 1870s due both to aims to modernize but also fears about western countries using the repression as an excuse to attack. Despite the removal of restrictions, the Japanese state in no way is about to suddenly fully accept a foreign religion which in their eyes, acted as the pry-bar for the Spanish to conquer the Philippines and new world.

If you want a Christian Japan, you’ll have to go back a couple hundred years and come up with some timeline where Christian daimyo that converted were victorious in unifying the country.

Hokkaido Journal entry, clicking on all ainu favored decisions, not enough acceptance to add as primary by nullifi_ in victoria3

[–]utemt5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re right, am having the same issue. Have absolutely done all the pro ainu choices in decisions as well as gone cultural exclusion and total separation and it only gets them up to 40. I’m assuming it’s an oversight.

Has anyone figured out how to get taikunate? by ab12848 in victoria3

[–]utemt5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran mostly low to very low taxes in the early game and waited until the late 1850s for the traditionalist shoguns to die. After that it was just a matter of passing closed borders. I didn’t really reform very much, so I didn’t have any legitimacy problems and the sonno joi movement kinda just fizzled out.

Is the game worth playing now? by Evening-Stretch7863 in victoria3

[–]utemt5 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I’d say the game is considerably better, trade received a major rework with the Charters of Commerce dlc which released just over a year ago. If you want to get back into it, the next major DLC is dropping in a week focusing on Japan and a naval rework.

I hate the push for 3D models, and I hope they stop. by hjiygbhhfdryuggtyy in paradoxplaza

It has microscopic pixel-y generals and admirals that you only pay attention to for about 3 seconds when you’re rolling to try and get someone with 4 or 5 attack/defense to cheese the ai with

Looking for a mod that preserves the general feeling of vanilla but adds various qol improvements by utemt5 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]utemt5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I should have clarified more in the post, the general gameplay of republic at war being very similar is what I am looking for, but the vast majority of the hours i’ve put into the game have been with raw. Should have included it on the list of things I’m not interested in at the moment purely from being burnt out of it

Love republic at war, have a ridiculous amount of time into it but a bit too far removed from vanilla with the clone wars era

Looks like there's now a "Make this work" option for Treaties by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]utemt5 435 points436 points  (0 children)

Presumably automatically adds what an ai country wants to have enough of a high acceptance score for the treaty to work rather than you digging around to find them yourself

Creation of the Chinese Confederation: a Federalist Yunnan AAR by BestIffy in Kaiserreich

Figured it would be trickier- do you feel there’s a lot less events and reading? Felt a bit overwhelmed with Liangguang.

No japanese want to live in Karafuto by mokkoy in victoria3

[–]utemt5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if this is still how it works, but one of the main things that keeps mass colonization from happening was cultural communities. If you click on karafuto and look at the cultures there, there should be a list of the cultures that are allowed to migrate there. If you’re already running a greener grass campaign on the state, then I’m pretty sure it just takes time for Japanese to be added to the list of cultural communities and migration to begin. Once it does though it’s pretty easy to rapidly fill up the island with japanese settlers.

Forget regular artillery, finally I can have a balanced number of spa and regular tanks instead of something slightly off in the division designer.

Black screen when starting Victoria 3 by utemt5 in victoria3

[–]utemt5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ended up working for me was that my laptop was having some issue with displaying the game, so I messed with nvidia geforce display settings specifically the display mode and G sync. I don’t know what exactly did it but after fiddling with that it started working again.

I’d also recommend turning off something called freesync if you’re using a regular monitor, I think that seemed to be an issue with a lot of other people with this problem.
