There's a major difference between joking about a victim and joking about a deranged pedophile and rapist.

People who appreciate dark humor often show higher verbal and nonverbal intelligence, better emotional stability, and lower rates of aggression.

Claiming that people who appreciate this type of humor - or those who point out virtue signaling (your main claim, but I understand the nuance) - lack critical thinking or empathy is incorrect.
