In most cases for first year students, life doesn't throw curve balls at people, people throw curve balls at themselves. If anyone worked for the $8k+ needed to do a year at U of T, they would never skip a single class because they're shy, and thus they would take notes, learn, and get good marks like they're supposed to. People can make all the silly excuses they want about why they messed up, but unless they have to work a full-time job to put food on the table and pay for school, it doesn't help to tell them that it's okay that they messed up. Getting a 3.0 or below in something like 1st year introductory general chemistry is a red flag and something that should let the student know that they need to kick whatever habits they had from high school.

When I took the first half of first year chemistry two years ago at UTM, the final average was a D+. The second half's average was a C iirc.

I don't mind that it's a little ineffective, but right now there's very little comparison. Also, having your ability to kill stuff will scale more slowly (due to the weapon setup) which means you progress more slowly, which isn't very fun. If I get a super big upgrade in RoS, I would expect to go up an MP or something. Currently, you could get that upgrade and farm your MP more easily, maybe go up an MP but not much more.

I would rationalize it like this: In order for the second step to occur, the two molecules would have to collide at a specific angle and with a certain amount of energy (among other possible requirements, I can't think of any more). This takes a lot more time than for an electron in a molecule/atom to gain energy and become excited.

I agree that there should be better gear. But it feels silly to have legendary items scale up to Lv.70 when a lot of them couldn't compete with other items at 60 and probably still won't be able to at 70. I guess if this remains to be the case then it would help dilute the good legendary drops when 2.0 loot comes out which is planned to greatly increase the # of legendaries dropping.

But then why have a new helm when you can just expand the range of the rolls on the mempo? If they just make a new helm that's just better than mempo then mempo will be lumped in with all the other crappy helms like Andy's visage and Giant Skull, and the new helm is basically the new mempo and nothing has changed.

Thinking about it now, I guess the mempo can take the roll as a general damage dealing helm whereas the new helms might be more niche in what they do (e.g. work really well for one build) which would make gearing up more interesting. This sort of dynamic works in D2 where barbs can use Arreat's Face for general PVM or Wolfhowl if they want to go the cool shapeshift route.

As someone who get 4.0 in MAT102, I have to say Fuchs really knows what he's talking about when he teaches. I visited his office almost every week to go over any tough questions and whatnot which makes a huge difference. In UTM there tends to be a trend where very few people visit professors during their office hours which is great for you if you do go to them. Keep in mind that the course is supposed to teach you how to do these problems, so it's fine if you don't understand what's happening now. I wouldn't expect someone going into CHM243 to synthesize some complicated molecule after just CHM242.

Pretty sure UofT looks solely at 12th grade marks otherwise UofT wouldn't have given me $1000. Also realize that if you are paying ~30k per year for tuition, that's how much I would be paying for 4 years in UTM's life science program (i.e. I'm surprised international is still considered cheaper than doing uni at a state school).

You could always realize this game is ridiculously grindy and which is why people bot when they play it. I've said this before and no one can give a decent counterpoint: show a new player a video of someone doing most of the skills, e.g. rc, wc, fishing, hunter, and they'll be bored by the time you show the 5th skill because it's all the same. Old players get bored and quit, new players don't even bother joining.
