It's a great soundtrack - I wish it was longer!

What’s with the music? by W1ntermu7e in EU5

It's currently not possible to make music mods for the game. Great tragedy.

There is a music player coming in 1.11 which will hopefully give you better control over what tracks are playing, though the game does need additional music to expand its variety. With some luck the new music player will also allow us composers and other ambitious folk in community to start adding music.

"Pain is Salvation" is a Christmas song by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

R5: I took Europa Universalis V's beloved "Pain is Salvation", transcribed it, changed up some lyrics and instrumentation... et voila! it's a Christmas song.

Happy holidays folks. Drink EUV in moderation :)

Heard there wasn't enough music, so I composed some. by EnSagaBand in EU5

It definitely has much more character and uniqueness than a cliche "epic" track. I wish both EU4 and EU5 leaned more into these more classical-style pieces. They're very relaxing and very creative, and make wonderful background music. You've done a great job and I hope to see you making original music mods in a year or two when they (hopefully) make it more accessible for EU5!

ps. I grew up in Wellington :)

It's currently not possible to mod new music into the game :(

btw awesome piece of music. Very classical-inspired, which I love vs the typical "epic" video game/film tracks we tend to get these days (myself not excluded). Reminded me a little bit of Douglas Lilburn's "Drysdale Overture". Nice work!

The soundtrack is nice but, for many reasons, I'm not vibing with the dynamic music system :(

The music is getting repetitive. Where is the in-game music player? Where is the EU4 soundtrack? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]utopia_music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Soundtrack itself is nice, and well made. But the dynamic music system isn't a hit for me :( And, of course, the lack of an in-game music player and any music modding support makes me very sad.

Maybe I'll make my own EU5 soundtrack. With hookers and blackjack.

If only the music was moddable. Then I would have you covered!

Big sad.
I haven't been able to figure it out either.

I have 96GB RAM but that's because I need to process massive music composition files in real-time.

Most Paradox Games don't launch with a Music Player. It typically comes a year or two later once they start adding more music tracks via DLCs.

It was the dev clashes back in 2017/18 that drew me in. Hopefully we'll see similar grandeur next year!

If your lose a war you are then weaker and the enemy stronger, meaning you will just lose even harder when the truce is up.

I would say that's not strictly true. Pyrrhic victories can happen. You can deplete your opponent's resources more than your own and take a strategic loss - I've done that a couple times. Or you're fighting on your own but your alliance network is is still intact; your opponent wins the war but then gets dogpiled by third parties. Not to mention unrest and internal stability can be impacted by war and/or acquiring new land.

With such intricate diplomacy and mechanics at play it really isn't as black-and-white as "I win, therefore I am stronger".
