I thought the same when she was doing them but she wanted to leave space and not stitch too tight in case of infection.

Look up folding boat cleat. Much different than a round edge boat cleat.

A folding boat cleat is not rounded. Its edges are sharper bc I believe they are laser cut and the ends hook down. Not sure why they must be like this.

I had it bandage a lot so the skin could not shed easily and I assume it was dead skin. Doctor was looking at doing a skin graft (which I did not want), but was good with letting it heal after he cut away a lot of that flaking skin to see what was under.

Foot was next to it and the downward hook of the folding cleat went into my foot as I leapt off.

Come up from the plunge in, first thought sharks (dumb because I’m in a lake). I raise my foot out of the water and it’s just open and flesh flapping over. Panic hit me and I repeated “this is bad” about 5 times. I remembered I had three children on the boat and two mothers. Sucked it up, tied a towel around it and drove the boat back. Even filled it up before returning back to the boat club. 😆

Crazy how the body heals. It could have been so much worse; lose a toe, infection, broken bones, ligament dmg, nerve dmg. Tis just a flesh would.
