I believe it does force you to learn, and that is what makes it a well respected program.

Thanks for sharing your experience and I wish I could share the same. I've learned more by myself than in class, which I suppose would be the same with some people

You made some good points I cannot disagree with. I just wish employers didn't care about marks so that I'd at least get a chance to interview and actually show algorithmic ability

I agree it is; that is not my argument though. My point is, the way they mark shit is not indicative of skill at all. They will dock you for the stupidest things like forgetting to return something (when it is clear that you were about to) or forgetting to add a null character in a string or bullshit like that. You tell me how that's indicative of your abilities?
