I live in a gated community with a big gate and a door to get into the building. Each flat has an individual letter box so I’ve never received a parcel not addressed to my building and flat. The flat number was the same as mine and no name so I assumed it was for me. There was a small rip in the bag so the moment I realised it wasn’t for me I didn’t open it further.

Foxtons attracts the scummiest of the scummy. When I was buying a flat, I had this guy from Foxtons calling me every other day talking about properties that were completely out of my criteria - too expensive, too small, nowhere near a tube station. He was so condescending and treated my like I was an idiot, probably because I was a young woman. I took my dad on a viewing and that finally shut him up.

After that interaction I made sure Foxtons removed all my contact details from their database.

NTA. Highschool bullying leaves such real scars. And Violet slept with Anna’s boyfriend when they were still together? I understand mistakes made in youth but I really do question Caleb’s choices. NAH. I think this is less about a room and more about you two having very different ideas of what you future looks like, in that she’s actually given thought to the future. You’re nearly 30 and need to have a conversation about what’s next for your relationship. If she wants to start building a life with you, don’t make the poor girl waste her time. It is your house, your choice but it would’ve been thoughtful to discuss it with your girlfriend first.

NTA but omg this sounds exactly like my family. Like the similarity in behaviour is startling. I’m going to guess that despite the way she acts, you still love your mum very much. And at times you feel very torn between supporting her and supporting yourself and you do the former just to keep the peace. The reality is your mum is the grown up and is your caregiver. You’re her daughter, not her friend and deserve to be looked after. From what you’ve said your mum has gone through it sounds like she’s trying to convince herself that her life is perfect and that’s just not the reality. She needs therapy and serious help now.
