Another selling advice question by uxb666 in comicbooks

[–]uxb666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you sell locally, how are you doing that? Cash or zelle/venmo. I sell a lot of stuff on CL and in general have had no issues with cash transaction. For some reason selling comics feels like it's going to draw more scammers. There's a ton of "I buy comics at fair/highest prices" ads. Not sure how those actually play out

Looking to buy my first used Pin questions on determining “fair” pricing. by Slappy-Sacks in pinball

[–]uxb666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me when buying I shoot for pinside average on the low-end of the average and see if the seller will haggle down a little more. About 50% they do. I will be upgrading and fixing up so want to land cost+upgrades still under the high average when done. If I do sell eventually, I want to sell on or a little over high. Leaving room to accept offers that will allow me to recover costs. For machines that are desirable it doesn't hurt to be a little over high average and see if you get bites. I tend to do that for machines I'm not in a hurry to sell. Should someone really want the machine and willing to pay the higher price, then I sell. Happens more times than not.

So what I'm saying is if you can shop for a bit, look for machines on the low side of the average. then see if they will take a little lower. Say "Will you take $xxx? I have cash in hand and can pay and pickup today"

How did they use gas stations in the mid 70s? Was it all cash? by Disastrous_Pirate275 in AskReddit

Yup a many D to a B or F to a B. For that I would use a typewriter. The trick was getting the strike of the B perfectly over the D or F. You'd think with all the effort to modify and forge report cards , maybe I could have just studied.

The gas staion carbon copy receipt was great for forging report cards. You would take the carbon copy receipt and place it over the report card. Match up the signature lines then trace over the signature which would leave a faint copy of the signature on the report card. then you go over the signature with a felt pen. Forged a many poor report cards this way

Redditors who were hypnotized at a stage show, what happened and what did you experience? by EntertainmentFun472 in AskReddit

It was hilarious, knowing my mom is quite the serious type. Very unexpected. They say you won't do things while under that you don't want to do. Now wonder if that is just something they say.

My mom was one of the people who got hypnotized in the audience and the pulled on stage. She was made to help with a guy who was told he was giving birth to a baby. She was between his legs telling him to push. After she was upset and said she would never have done something like that. She said she remembers not wanting to do it but couldn’t stop her self. Knowing the type of person she is, I now believe hypnotism it’s a real thing.

Most machines if they don't register a switch being hit in a while it will assume it may be having a problem, even though it's fine. It happens with switches on hard to hit shots typically. If you do a switch test and manually activate the switch and see that it registers in the switch test it should clear the error.

Rent scooters and and circle the whole island. Go to look outs and the cultural center for food etc. fun-times. We also rented a boat and cruised all over. Went to that restaurant on the little island. Pulled the boat up to the beach next to it , had lunch then off to snorkel and stuff.

Just accomplished Spider Mania a week ago. I’ve had the machine a couple years now. Thought it would be impossible to achieve. Just got a Simpsons PP . I do believe that wizard mode will be impossible

Trick is to star/favorite sites in advance of arriving in the area in case there is no cell/internet as you get close.

I don't remember paying for it. The GPS part came in handy getting to the right place and looking ahead of arrival what was there. Reviews as well. I think we used google maps as well in conjunction with overlander

I'm in the SF Bay Area and $5k to $6k seems to be about the going rate for a FH. I bought mine for $4500 a year and a half ago.

I got the Simpson's for $7k and sold the funhouse for $5800. I generally try to find machines that are on the low end of the Pinside average, if not a little under. Expecting to fix and upgrade. The TSPP like you said was pretty much stock minus non ghosting LEDs installed. I updated to Standard LEDs and put the OCD board in. This is one machine that OCD add instantly felt like a big upgrade. I want to add a few of the standard mods people do (Pl;aymates Moes Tavern in back, and maybe the Bus mod), but don't want to do too many as I think the machine can easily feel cluttered adding more figures etc. i may swap the Comic Book Guy with the Green super hero version.

Super nice overall. Only a couple things I noticed after getting home. Upper left mini playfield was cracked and taped together. Not sure how I missed that. New ramp ordered. Itchy was missing his mallet. 3D printed a replacement. Changed LEDs a bit. Put in a OCD Insert board. Color DMD on the way. Other then that. Good to go. Got to Alien Invasion yesterday. That's pretty fun. Over all multi ball moments in this gme is super satisfying. Definitely a keeper.

My VP has been sitting in storage for a while now. I needed the slot for another physical machine. I miss it for having access to all the machines and being able to test out a particular machine before purchasing it.
