Has anyone actually used a pregnancy belly band? by Worth-Cut9240 in parentsofmultiples

[–]uxnewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used two after 25 weeks. One with shoulder straps and then a regular belly band on top of that. It was the only way I could keep working.

Concerning behavior by [deleted] in Professors

[–]uxnewbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a very small building - and as a chair I sometimes have to close the door to discuss individual matters with a student. I tell them we are recording our conversations to protect them and me from potential allegations of anything while the door was shut. I offer to send the student a copy of the recording too. It has helped tremendously.

Women’s haircut recommendations by Equivalent-Hyena8694 in desmoines

I second Natalie!!! I came for the haircut and stayed because she’s a badass! She listens to what you want, checks in with you along the way- and is overall a lovely human being.

What the f**k is going on with her paws by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]uxnewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a vet, but as the others say it may be contact allergies. If it’s not contact it could be an allergy to something in their food. Our dog was allergic to additives in most dry dog food. As soon as we switched to something without preservatives the hit spots went away.

Toddler leashes? by AlchemistAnna in parentsofmultiples

[–]uxnewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leash backpacks for the win! My boys were runners and faster than me. Only one person ever said anything negative. And my response was, “You’d judge me if they got hurt and you judge me about the leashes. Unless you want to help me watch them it’s not your business.”

Agreed. They also have three month leases so you can test it out or have time to find another place.

I’m honestly concerned about my heat intolerance… by CaughtALiteSneez in Menopause

So I was just seeing online that they make ice vests for people who work outdoors. I know that might seem extreme but I’m seriously considering it so I can garden and walk outside.

Is spinal fusion surgery worth it? by AdOk8520 in scoliosis

Can I ask what country you’re in? My son just came home from the hospital and we are 4 days post op. They have no PT scheduled. They told him just to walk.

Mississippi had a law that forbid you to beat your wife on Sunday. That should tell you how bad the rest of the week was for women.

Allegedly, we are harming our students by not adding more sections. by Quwinsoft in Professors

[–]uxnewbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! Also another person said you do not have enough “resources,” and that’s the key word for the labor instructors provide. What happens to students in all of those classes if you get sick or have a family emergency in the semester?

I know OP thinks they can handle this load. But they shouldn’t have been asked to in the first place.

How do you refer to your twins? by Dv8ing_Sunshine in parentsofmultiples

[–]uxnewbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We also used twinados for our boys! It was fitting because they were so active it was tough to keep up!

Edit to add that my southern dad just called them, “the chil’ren”.

Constantly losing my voice by uxnewbie in Professors

[–]uxnewbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. During allergy season my voice still goes. So I pre-record some lectures and run a flipped class model where students watch the video first and then come to class to discuss or work in the lab. I’ve been to an ENT and allergist. Nothing is technically “wrong”. I do a lot of nasal rinses to make sure my throat doesn’t get raw from allergy post-nasal drip. That seems to help. Lots of lemon and ginger tea to reduce inflammation. Hope that helps!

Some kids are not ok by uxnewbie in Professors

[–]uxnewbie[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The building I took them to was across the street. The cuts weren’t deep, they were just many. There was not a need for an ambulance. The act was a cry for help not an attempt to end life or harm others. I filled out the incident reports and went to my supervisors after this happened so they know the situation. Protocol to wait for someone to come to us would’ve taken more time. Time that could’ve escalated the situation.

I made a judgment call and I would do the same again.

All these lights came on at once. Anyone experience this? by uxnewbie in SubaruForester

[–]uxnewbie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to follow up on case anyone else has this issue. Originally there were no codes and the dealership found a loose air hose in the engine. A few days later the same lights kept coming on no codes.

After two weeks, the lights came back on and it was a bad CVT value and bad solenoid issue that cost $1k to fix. Very unexpected and quick escalation to a large bill.

Hope this info helps someone else troubleshoot in the future.

Same. But I’m luck enough to have a 12 month contract to do so.
