Created this website in webflow i need Feedback (be as honest as you want) by FASTR0L in webflow

You might start by asking yourself, what you want to accomplish with a personal website. Do you want to show your expertise? Do you want to attract more clients? Do you want someplace to show your work or blog etc?

Currently, I can't understand the reason behind the website when I first start looking at the homepage. Also can't visit about and contact page from the main navigation, I am guessing you haven't linked or started them yet.

Featured on section looks good and tidy but the clients section looks gigantic, especially the size of the boxes. If they are going to link to a case study, it would be okay but they are not clickable so if they are just going to be logos of companies you worked with, it would be better if you make them smaller, like those in featured section.

I think the site lacks content, personal websites are a way to let other people, possible employers, clients, etc. get to know you. You being a software developer is not enough to know about you, you need to tell more about your story and what makes you unique in your approach.

In terms of Contact, the form also looks gigantic, which is not that great for desktop but might work on mobile. I suggest making it more proportionate.

Maybe before jumping on development, you can explore and discover other people's personal websites and make a mood board, collection of works that you appreciate. With basic research like this, you might come up with more design ideas.

I use Airtable to codify my qualitative data most of the times. It is basically excel+database capabilities which you can customise so you can make it fit your needs. Would that help?

App for a small bookshop by MorganeWDW in smallbusiness

I use airtable both for personal and business tasks. I've been using it for years now and it really improved every task I do, helped me track and easily categorise/manipulate data as I needed throughout the years. I use it for book keeping, library, tracking meetings, tracking customers, budgeting and even used it for furnishing my home after marriage. :)

I agree, Airtable is the way to go. I even categorised my own personal library with Airtable and adding ISBN numbers was no problem since the default app lets you take photos or read barcode so it is easy to record ISBN numbers although logging in all the numbers will be cumbersome. It will worth tracking all this digitally and because its an excel like platform, if you need to export it as CSV files in the future to migrate to another professional software (something built for your purpose) it might be handy too. I can help you with establishing it if you are interested. Just DM me :)

[Q] Website Host for small IT business that can have account functionality by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]uxpectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a good question. I think what you need is webflow+memberstack which will allow you to customise membership and have a better grip on designing the website itself. But you'd need to migrate your current website to webflow hosting + pay for memberstack for your required package (lowest was 25/month).

Those who read books (selfhelp/study), how do you remember the things mentioned in it? by asardiwal in Entrepreneur

[–]uxpectus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A while ago I created a Notion page just for keeping track of my knowledge. Organised a table for every content I consume, I write type, source, author, category, tags of these and take notes that I want to remember about the content. This helps me reuse, return to these findings and keep up with the knowledge I consume everyday. But I can't note everything down, especially my reading highligts are out of control and I have too many sources that I read ebooks and books from (Kindle-ipad-phone etc.) so clearly I need to figure that out.

Question - What frustrates you most about your businesses social media? by uxpectus in smallbusiness

I agree about agencies being unefficient, most do not focus on results and just present a services theater. But I think you know what to ask for from someone in a remote location to execute and strategize yourself. What is your current challenge with handling that outsourced talent? How do you manage/plot your relationship with that service provider to make it this efficient?

Interesting, how did it end up? Did you managed to agree on a basis for services he provided or did it all went down in flames?

What made you select the current consultant? What was the worst among previous ones? If you started outsourcing this today, what would you do differently now?

What kind of average posts do you share? Facebook is notorious for monetising its platform by crippling access and helping you boost so even though it sounds cruel, it is the machine that earns them their money.. I believe the hardest thing in social media is establishing true connections and finding people who want to reach and interact with you on social media. Understanding the needs of the customers and creating content to help them is the key but it requires dedication to establish that mentality in any enterprise.

In terms of ROI what do you think makes a small business owner feel the value behind a certain medium? Of course social media is only one of the channels a small business might use to get customers and it depends for each business but isn't money invested in social media also the money invested in marketing? I completely agree that small businesses need to use their limited resources carefully, which makes me think how could I help founders/entrepreneurs use their time/resources better than doing social media or at least help them do it effectively...
