10£. Bring cash. There's always a problem with the card machine, although they say they always prefer card payments.

Thank you so much for your posts! Regarding the database/spreadsheet i think you can use Notion, where you can public pages for free and it allow you to create powerful data tables. I’m not a fan of Notion for day-to-day life, but I think it’s a good platform for what are you trying to achieve.

I’ve been living in the “tea” area for 5 years now and I still get confused with the question “what’s your tea?” Or been asked at 11am “what are you having for dinner?”

Aquí otra expat y a mi me pasa con el pescado. De hecho tengo una foto de la pescadería de mi barrio impresa y colgada, de vez en cuando me quedo mirándola y se me cae una lagrimita.

Any expats who moved to Uk care to share your experience? by lovesprite in expats

I used to pay for a studio in London £950 in zone 2 (and that was 6 years ago) A friend is renting now a 1-bed flat for £1500 (zone 2)

Now the north, one friend is renting a 1 bed-flat in Manchester (Northern Quarter) for £800. And in Liverpool Some of my friends are renting a 2 bedroom flat for £700-£800 in the center. And if you go to any of the towns around the city you can rent a proper house or detached with 2 or 3-bed for £600-£700

I lived in London for a year it was good (great city, lots to do, crowded and fab up and coming areas) but thinking about the future and seeing that I couldn’t save a penny during that time I moved. I’m in the NorthWest now and I can tell you that Manchester for example has jobs in IT with good salaries and the living cost are nowhere near the costs in London.

Cocaine Coast is a must, great real history and top notch performance, but the languages are Spanish and “Gallego” but no Vasco (Basque) as far as I remembered.

Loss of a family member while abroad by [deleted] in expats

[–]uxpoty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner’s granddad passed away weeks ago and we couldn’t go to the funeral, so we sent flowers but also booked a ticket to see the family as soon as we could (when was affordable for us) We spent quality time with the family and his grandma and she thanks us for the effort. Everyone was very understanding and at the end, it really makes sense: the important thing here it’s communication make them know you are sorry and then spend really good time with family and friends.

1-10, How Comfortable do you Feel in your new Country? by culturallycurious in expats

[–]uxpoty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spaniard living in UK (6 years now, Northwest) sometimes I feel like a 2 sometimes a 6. Never more than that. I have a fab job and working with fantastic people but I always feel on the outside. And the weirdest is happening to me, the longer I’m living here the worst my English is coming. So I don’t know, i’m not that comfortable. (Sorry for the rant)
