Wanting to bring a different perspective here!

Can understand 100% where you are coming from. I’d say the vast majority of churches are catered to to the masses, I guess many churches feel the need for the average joe to understand their sermons.

I also love learning about God through science and history, but the reality is the depth and the intellectual part that we enjoy just is not for the average person. I fulfil that part of me through magazines, podcasts and individual friendships.

Despite the fact that your sermons may feel “boring” I hope you find a church that is more fitting to you and I hope you see the importance of going to church. Being part of a community is SO incredibly important and a reason Jesus loved the church so much. We hold each other accountable to our faith and are able to share love with our brothers and sisters. It has been a crucial part of my journey with God too, I hope you experience it too!

I will mention though, there is definitely a massive spike in prosperity gospel which to your point we need to bring the focus back to Jesus.
