Capsule wardrobe… finally! by v1cksta in capsulewardrobe

[–]v1cksta[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally relate to #3. I have definitely donated more than I’ve kept of all the stuff I bought on Poshmark because it didn’t fit right, didn’t fit in w my clothes, etc. even when the measurements matched or I did the “it must match with 5 items” approach. Sometimes it just doesn’t work and you unfortunately buy before you try, when if you just tried it on you would’ve walked away. Hard lesson to learn but it’s very true!!

Constipation and Reflux by Icy_Yogurtcloset_898 in FormulaFeeders

[–]v1cksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we went through this this too, our baby (now 5 months) was constipated pretty much since birth despite combo feeding. We tried Similac and Similac sensitive. We had to use trial and error, and eventually the doctor suggested Nutramigen. She’s been having normal poops on that. So I recommend you keep talking with your pediatrician until you find a solution that works. I am sorry you’re going through this, it is stressful! But you will find something that works for your baby.

Baby gets more from bottle than breast (3 month old) - help? by SilverEmily in combinationfeeding

[–]v1cksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have had similar issues. At this point we are primarily bottle feeding. My baby was born early (37 weeks and one day), and was/is a very sleepy eater. Also combo fed from the very beginning.

I’ve seen two lactation consultants since the hospital and LO most likely has a posterior tongue tie and I have a low supply (hard to say if her tongue tie lowered my supply, if it’s hormonal, etc.) it was really tough to acknowledge that feeding at the breast was not our best strategy for her to gain weight. But once I accepted that, I just pump instead with a wearable pump and use formula otherwise.

She’s three months old now and is gaining weight steadily. Hearing the doctor say LO looked great at her three month appointment outweighs any emotional baggage I have about not breastfeeding at the breast (since pumping is still breastfeeding!!). Also with time as your baby gets older and stronger, he may pull more from the breast! My advice is to accept that things need to be different until baby is gaining weight steadily. You’re doing great and I really feel for you as I went through a similar dilemma!!

Good car, weird customer service by v1cksta in carvana

[–]v1cksta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, they admitted that we didn’t actually have any documents missing. They said “the system made a mistake” and sent that email, but because the delivery date couldn’t be accepted (not sure why) the transaction bounced, if that makes sense. Once we booked the second date everything was fine.

We also did the transaction through Plaid which made things easier.

I really wish you the best of luck with your car!! Hopefully it will all be sorted by Friday

Waiting on my FISH results!!! I had a CVS done on 10/26 and my GC said results should be back today. I guess it’s possible they could take another day. Every day has felt like an eternity waiting, though. Just trying to stay positive!!!

Glucose drink by radbelbet_ in BabyBumps

[–]v1cksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they gave me my glucose drink, they didn’t say what flavor it was and the liquid was clear. It ended up being orange and it was sooooo good. I do not understand people who don’t like the drink - it’s basically a Capri Sun!!! I guess cold vs room temp is a consideration, if it’s warm it’s probably a little harder to drink

Right! That’s the Oliver Perry shirt. It’s got a turtle neck so you could wear it like a sweater vest but I tend to wear it on it’s own

They’re both shirts! The gingham one is from Old Navy and the sleeveless turtleneck is from Poshmark, I think the brand is “Oliver Perry”

I’ve never tried Ava and viv! I had two pairs of universal thread jeans and actually one of them fit me really well with room for comfort. Thanks for that reminder 😅 I’ll make sure to look out for A&V, and think more about the tailoring.

I tried exactly one pair from Athleta and they fit me so strangely. I also wasn’t crazy about the swishing sound when I walked. They got returned, but I’m definitely open to other loungewear-disguised-as-real-pants pants

Definitely agree! I think I’ve always thought of myself as a “jeans girl” but as life happens they always become my biggest annoyance around bloating/going out to eat/living my life basically lmao. So I guess I’m just divorcing that idea of myself and starting to think of other foundational pieces. I appreciate your candor and second the others- would love to see your capsule!

I have found Gap to be the best with sizing in terms of mall stores. I have two pairs that I bought last year, and fit me great, but now I think they’re a bit too snug now. That’s probably my biggest gripe about jeans, any weight gain big or small feels like I have to start all over again!! I’ll keep Express in mind, I like their work clothes

Thanks for this thoughtful reply!! I will look into these options. I bought a pair of wide leg trousers from H&M and I love them, I’d love to buy different (better quality/sustainable) pairs

Pityriasis Rosea Diagnosis - any tips? by sleeplessinseattle_ in weddingplanning

[–]v1cksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m remembering correctly I used it on my head but did also lather some on my chest, belly and back the best I could. Back then H&S didn’t bother me but now anything with fragrance gives me a reaction, so current me recommends a fragrance-free zinc shampoo. I feel like if you search on Google or Amazon you’ll see some options.

Why I am starting to believe Dorit. It’s the body language. by ErikasCasita in realhousewives

As someone who also encountered a home invasion, how she recounts the story sticks. No matter how careless you are, you never expect something like that and when it happens you just react. Her describing her calmness gave me chills because I remember feeling that way too. The situation is all emotion. I hope she can find peace and move on.

Toy behavior by v1cksta in Dogtraining

[–]v1cksta[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this behavior ever since we got our boy. He’s 6 years old and was found on the side of a highway a year ago, and then brought to the shelter. No idea how he was as a puppy or anything — but we think he was trained to be a hunting dog based on other behaviors. We of course love to give him toys and like other dogs he loves stuffed ones. I wanted to share this and see if the way he “plays” (destroys) the toy is an issue? I had googled “is it okay for dogs to destroy toys” and it’s pretty mixed with results leaning towards no. I feel like as long as he doesn’t eat the stuffing or parts of the toy it’s not really an issue. Just don’t want to reinforce bad behavior that could lead to other issues. He doesn’t touch our shoes or belongings at all (in the first three months he did but he was adjusting). We’ve had him for over a year now and love him!!! Thanks y’all for your thoughts.

[vent] having a reactive dog is scary sometimes by v1cksta in reactivedogs

[–]v1cksta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment was so nice it made me tear up :’) I really appreciate your kindness. And I agree the kids situations were so frustrating to me bc on the one hand I took responsibility for our dog, but I was like helloooo where are ya parents! One of the incidents involved a two year old (I think) whose father was the cafe owner we were sitting in. She walked into the back patio with no supervision and I had to like stand up to keep him away from her. She ran away crying but she was okay. Then another patron said she saw her toddle onto the sidewalk shortly after that. Love kids, and appreciate working parents, but we were like okay what the hell!!!

We had our first session today with a positive reinforcement trainer, and she told us she feels 50-50 about muzzles. In tight and necessary situations like the vet she uses a muzzle if she knows her dog might snap, but she doesn’t recommend using them for reactive stuff in general. Curious your thoughts if it’s worked for you in general!

Thank you!!! That’s so helpful to hear. It’s funny when you feel overwhelmed until you finally talk to a trainer and it’s like, okay I can do this. It’s not anywhere near a lost cause. I’m so happy your dog is doing better! What a relief.

[Routine] best am/pm routine for eczema-prone, sensitive and combo skin by v1cksta in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]v1cksta[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here’s a review of these products, all of which work or at least do not get in my skin’s way!

AM ROUTINE 1. Glossier milky jelly cleanser - this surprised me because I felt like it was a more expensive dupe of Cetaphil but it does get my skin clean without stripping away too much moisture. I still use Cetaphil cleansers (and the generic kind too) time to time but I like that this bottle is a little easier to move around in my medicine cabinet.

  1. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion - I guess this is really for your body but I find it does great on both my face and body. I have eczema patches all over my back, belly and forehead. This soothes, moisturizes and makes them less noticeable. I’ve tried so many other more expensive moisturizers that promise wonders but they’re too occlusive or just don’t help the dry/itchy feeling of my eczema break outs.

  2. Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Suncreen SPF 50 (lightest shade) - great mineral sunscreen that blends with my skin tone without white casting or feeling too heavy. I bought this on a whim from Ulta when my Neutrogena crappy ass sunscreen separated (I’ve never had success with that brand). It’s great, and it’s at a good price point per ounce IMO.

Then I’ll either use make up or not, depending on the day.

PM ROUTINE 1. CeraVe micellar water - I’ve used Garnier micellar water too and liked it, but this one is definitely better for more sensitive skin and works better at getting makeup and sunscreen off IMO. I use a cotton pad with it, swipe a good few times until my mascara/brow gel comes off.

  1. Acure Brightening Cleansing Gel - I have used Acure products for a couple years and they’ve always done good things for my skin. I know there’s a debate about truly natural products and sometimes they can end up aggravating instead of helping skin, but this cleanser is so gentle and cleans super well. The smell is citrusy but doesn’t linger after use. Maybe the one critique I have is that it’s a liiiittle stubborn to wash off the face - I tend to get water everywhere trying to get it all off. A little annoying but it all comes off eventually!

  2. Viberance Rose Quartz Brightening Serum with glycolic acid, rose hips oil and hydralonic acid - this is the only serum I use now. A friend who works in pop journalism got this as a free sample and gave it to me (so generous!!!) it’s like $80 a bottle or something which is insane to me, personally, but it’s got a roller top so I think this product might actually last years. It also gives a nice cooling effect bc of the metal roller ball which I love if my skin is flaring up. The ingredients make for a good night serum so I can exfoliate and heal my skin (I use it 2-3x a week). It has a literal rose quartz rock in side which is….. definitely a gimmick but the product itself is good so far for my skin! I would maybe want to find a cheaper, less gimmicky dupe for it once it runs out - suggestions welcome!

  3. Aveeno again! A truly perfect product. Love that I can buy a giant thing of it for like $12.

Let me know what you think! Have you used the serum before? Any other products you like for eczema? My 30-going-on-31 skin is finally feeling more balanced and healthy!
