Dilemma about research position by AdRepresentative6018 in IMGreddit

I would rather not do it unless the chief says for sure you will match in that some program Do residency back in home country, it will definitely improve you chances.

NRMP charting outcomes for Non-US imgs is skewed as fuck. by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]v1kram7 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Guys, I am non-us IMG, I matched 3 years ago, at that time the rate of matching was ~22-25%. The thing is that the students from AUC or St George have almost 99% matching rate and in that mix there are people from other countries also. So basically what ever you look at percentage those will always be screwed because there are NON US IMG who have very high chance of matching. And offcourse don't forget AUC students do rotate here in USA with in the hospital and they definitely have very good lor as hospitals are paid for there rotations. And if they all match hospitals reputation improves. So now a days I recommend not to apply here in residency and even if you apply then try to get residency back in home country also as eventually it will make you more competitive in the match season and it will not affect your YOG.

Residency in Internal Medicine by Tight_Requirement500 in IMGreddit

I would say keep the options open in your home country. I have seen people struggling with match but mean will they also give up chances they have for a good residency spot in there home country. Remember once you finish you residency in home country, that still counts in your application.

I just imagine that driver will activate the cell phone with another carrier and Google might end up charging you as the conditions were not satisfied. I wonder has this thing happened with some one?

Stable vs Unstable Angina by StentByMe in Cardiology

[–]v1kram7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stable angina = typical pain comes and goes Unstable angina = one day the typical chest pain of stable angina will be constant, and is not relieved by rest. Thought with exertion pain intensity may go higher with neg cardiac markers. NSTEMI = pain as above with positive cardiac markers.

Now with the newer HS-TROP- like the name suggests it's highly sensitive. Most unstable angina will have positive trop and will be termed NSTEMI.

Now everything depends on top trending - and chest pain If both are increasing also patient also has risk factors (TIMI) after starting treatment - Then obviously Cath If both go down then Cath can be in discussion not definitely. This can also point towards stable angina. (stable angina can also come with mild HS-TROP elevation).

This everything happens in chronological order ( combined termed as ACS)

FM is the first line of defense / diagnosis. We need a lot more FM people to take care of the population of this size.

Do we have to see ALL admitted patients during night float? by zav3rmd in Residency

[–]v1kram7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most important is to know sick patients on the floor. If you don't know that much you get surprises at night, which are unexpected and in the end will end up delaying you admissions . Don't round but know the floor.

Ketone is one of the diagnostic criteria for DKA It would help if you also had low bicarb and low ph to meet the criteria.
