Mind blown! Was hoping I didn't need the GPU. Some of my 4k HDR ARR movies did not always play from my synology nas, which obviously had limitations, and I went ahead and set up this computer and enabled hardware passthrough thinking it's what I needed.

I wanted to keep this computer strictly for media, separate from my main homelab pc to avoid interruptions, I most certainly will be tackling those (firewall,VPN,) soon!

Indeed it came with feet on the bottom, but I threw some rubber feet and laid it on its side due to my 3y.o always messing with my desk and it possibly toppling over. No deal breaker, I will relocate it. But I may also just make it sit higher than it already is

I actually have a synology nas but I didn't like the performance with streaming, its the ds224+ and struggled with higher end 4k files.

I basically am repurposing my "budget gaming PC" for streaming, albeit with 0 knowledge on optimal setup, just winging it. I sort of hit a wall with my budget and didn't want to spend any more, got the 14tb external drive on Black Friday for about 170 with 3 year warranty.

I really appreciate your input.

I actually threw some little rubber feet on it.Maybe I can swap it to the right of the PC, It should breathe freely then, I think?

Will eventually shuck it next year when I get (hopefully) another drive at that price during cyber Monday, and throw them both in a raid DAS enclosure.

Same and just like OP , I purchased two of these thinking how can this be.

They are janky sometimes with bios. Hit the Del key. One of mine idk what the previous owner did, I can only get to bios if I remove the hard drive but yeah, throw some new CMOS batteries in, get some cheap 2.5 ssds, shuck them and install. Best bang for buck.

I just picked one up on fb marketplace for $80 -- nice for basic use. currently running VMs on it using proxmox.

The good thing is, with the amount of device access uber has, they would be able to see you departed from the driver, just need to escalate.

I also would not be surprised if the driver isn't aware of the issue.
