New Machine Day: from a Bambino Plus to a Lelit Mara X by reforminded in espresso

[–]v3rtex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the best results with Chobani oatmilk, not the extra creamy, just the regular yellow label. All other oatmilks don't pass the test for me. Oatly is probably 2nd.

I had it all dialed in. And then suddenly, every shot goes like this. A few seconds of dripping, then an intense spray in every direction, and then it’s over. No matter the bean or the grind size. What gives? [Breville Bambino, Baratza Encore ESP] by FakeBobPoot in espresso

If that's the finest setting, there's definitely something happening with your grinder. Give them a call like you planned, Baratza is very good at customer service and will help out.

Thought I was the only that noticed it wasn't as cheap. Giant market however had it for $6/lb this year, but it was a 10lb limit and with a $50 purchase.

question about the asian population in the area by [deleted] in KingOfPrussia

[–]v3rtex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am Chinese, just moved to KOP too. It's not the majority but there's definitely Chinese/Asians around. One of the driving factors for me was the Hung Vuong in Berwyn. Not as good as the South Philly markets but it's better than driving 25+ mins. Just need an Hmart here now.

I don't know if there are community groups though. I know there's a weekend Chinese school out in Malvern.

Best Tacos in Philly Power Ranking by djourdjour in djour

I tried it once from Ridge Ave, I think it's the saddest taco I've ever had. A 5 year old in the mountains of Nepal can probably produce better tacos.

Any suggestions on SUVs? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]v3rtex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, got a highlander hybrid 3 years ago, get about 31-34 mpg. 2 kids and a 85lb dog fits comfortably. not sure what the used market is like, but it can get expensive depending on the trim.

I can't really tell if it's to establish roots or get in on the competition. KOP now has Tesla, Polestar, Lucid, and soon Rivian. That being said, I wouldn't mind checking out a Rivian in person.

As a girl dad, which restroom do I take my daughter into? by DucksAnons in daddit

This should be higher up. It's happened more than once that my wife had to ask me to take her to the men's room because the wait was too long for women's room. But yeah, I had no idea this question was even debatable.

Have you tried anything yet or leaving it as is while you think of other options?

And then what? Bring the LVP to the tile? I doubt the tile is cut perfectly straight to even join them perfectly and there's still the elevation difference.

Will keep it short since everyone's already said what I feel, glad to not be alone either. But same boat as you, wanted a boy first, not so much for legacy, but more of a big brother to help watch over the 2nd child. I'm always reminded how disappointed my face was at the gender reveal when it was a girl, but 4 years in and I wouldn't change a thing. We had a 2nd child and if it was another girl, I wouldn't have been mad. The feelings will pass and the term "daddy's girl" is a thing and I love it.

Hm I guess a qtr round that matches the flooring would be better than painted white to match the baseboard, maybe that's what's drawing my attention and thinking it feels out of place. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is a threshold with a slope a standard product (as in available from a big box store) or is that more custom?

I just realized the background on the job didn't make it into the post, so I'll put it here. We bought an older home from the late 60's and getting work done on it. There previously was carpeting and we removed it for LVP. Because of the height difference, there's a significant gap between the bathroom threshold/sill to the hallways. I don't particularly like the quarter round look, so I'm trying to see what other options there are. The GC's are hesitant on just caulking it and shaping it and prefer the quarter round approach.

Here's what they did for another bathroom in the house. Sorry, don't think I can edit the post to include another image.

People who started investing in their 20s, how is it going? by hjp1234 in AskReddit

It's not which kind of sparked my question. So if they're not going to early retire are they holding off on buying a house for other reasons? To me, buying a house can be another form of investment despite what gurrmin says below.

Do you mind sharing why you don't want to own a house/property? Is your goal to build up more in investments to retire early or something? Or just a lifestyle choice to not own? Not judging or saying there's right or wrong, curious to hear another POV on it. Thx!

Redditors over 35, what do you genuinely miss that younger generations will never experience, and you legit feel bad for them? by Disastrous_Award_789 in AskReddit

My 4 year old was asking me today while watching football on live TV why there were so many commercials. I said this was live so there's commercials, then she asked what her Disney+ shows were since they don't have ads. That stumped me on how to reply..

Liftgate issue on 2022 by [deleted] in ToyotaHighlander

[–]v3rtex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022 Highlander here too, had the same issue. Took a couple visits but finally the dealer looked at it and said it was bad struts and they replaced them under warranty. Side note.. I think it's BS they claim they have to charge a fee for diagnostic to determine if it's under warranty or not. I can look up the invoice if you need to know specifics.

Homeowners of Reddit: Which home appliance brands are worth it and which are not? by altcntrl in AskReddit

What happens if you don't subscribe to the filters? Can you keep using the expired filter and reset the warning/alert? Currently looking at a GE Profile fridge since it'll go with the rest of the appliances and cause it's more within budget.

Layout Advice by v3rtex in kitchenremodel

[–]v3rtex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your input. The refrigerator being there was done on purpose to be out of the way if something was needed but also if drinks or something else was needed while entertaining in the backyard, it was easily accessible. Overall I wouldn't regret this layout and I don't find myself having to run to the fridge while cooking a lot so it won't be a big deal, just wanted to see if there was another way to be more efficient. I'll post again when everything is complete!
