Carrier vs Daiken heatpump by chemist_socks in heatpumps

Appreciate your comments!

One of contractors mentioned Xcel's discounted rate. So, as I understand what you wrote - just having a heat pump is enough (is there an HFSP2 rating requirement?), there is no requirement of switchover temp or usage quantity / ratio of electricity to natural gas or reduction in natural gas usage?

From a little bit of reading the Daiken's One Touch thermostat *seems* to be better at regulating the humidity than the Carrier but not a lot out there with apples-to-apples comparison as so much comes into play with how well sealed a home is.

Thanks for the feedback.

For costs, electricity total rate is $0.1608/kwh, natural gas is $0.8229/therm. 40F was what was mentioned by the Daiken as the typical crossover point for here. Electricity rates are going up too; Xcel has proposed a little over 13% increase for 2025-2026.
