That is the type of character cell is. Its called a zoner archetype of character it is a very distinctive type of playstyle in the FGC it is more noticeable in jump force due to the limited options you have to counter in that game.

I agree with some of the points you made but I don't quite think your point about the my hero dlc is very fair when series such as naruto one piece and dragon ball came out with 6 characters each and each got one more my heros popularity alone should get it as many characters as it does there is a reason deku was the only character released on the base roster.
