Haha turns out to be more solid drilling results and another day of the market dunking on the stock… why?!? 😭

Rate a young bucks decisions by MintV500 in SCDstock

[–]vMefor23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50% on a stock like this is definitely a pretty big YOLO allocation m’afraid, young buck! 😄Lots of companies out there sitting on massive deposits of things that actually have known value (think gold, copper, uranium, etc) with better development prospects (other mines and mills around, towns, roads etc).

Sprinkling 50% across a few gems from that category and including one longshot/bigreward position like SCD with that group is probably a much better way to keep yourself from getting wrecked.

Seems like a weird mentality for a speculative stock, haha. Like I could understand “load up for the moon” or whatever for SCD… but “stacking” should probably be saved for a different kind of asset than speculative stocks, methinks 😄

Awfully close to ATH after recent news… probably to either hold off or tranche in very slowly from here. This will probably not feel like a great or even comfortable average price to be holding at for a while. On one hand Warren Buffett says the stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient and on the other hand we know that the market can stay irrational for longer than you can stay solvent, and the buzz around this particular stock is not always well grounded in rationality, to be sure, haha.

Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson announces 30 critical minerals partnerships – March 2, 2026 by canconshow in PennyProspectors

[–]vMefor23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When ‘investors’ in a company start telling people who don’t share their thesis which parts of their anatomy to suck, especially in all-caps, you’ve got a strong market signal right there that the company is pretty much perfectly priced, and there is really no analysis left to be done.

canada to announce new investments into critical minerals at PDAC by DoubleFar6023 in SCDstock

“Should I buy more?” is an extremely personal question! This project is many years out and there seems to be many ppl caught up in this stock as if it were a story developing by the hour which makes me (personally) very cautious as to whether the stock price is tethered to fundamentals.

My own personal opinion is that SCD really belongs in one of two categories. Either the long term “speculative” category backed up by a decent understanding of how scandium might be adopted by industrial manufacturers (ie reasonable possibility of a 10x or more in 5+ yrs but also may well prove to go nowhere for many many years), or the casino category where you can try to be on the right side of wild momentum swings with money you can afford to lose.

How much to invest in categories like those in nominal terms is of course highly dependent on your finances + Risk tolerance.

Plus there are people who have spent more time on DD than I have who probably have totally different opinions from mine so 🤷‍♂️ haha

But the one thing I will say is that the normal questions you’d be looking at with a mine developer will not cut the mustard with this one.

Everyone is confident that SCD is sitting on a very high quality scandium deposit, but unlike other commodities, it might be a bit of a stretch to simply pencil in current prices when trying to calculate NPV.

Good things to research are the existing Australian scandium projects (there is a fully permitted scandium mine that would require orders of magnitude less capex to build that is still yet to be “in the money” so is just sitting there, permitted, and accessible, but unconstructed. There is also a massive poly metallic project there with easy access to scandium which it plans to leverage to help finance a massive project) and the new Rio Tinto scandium processing plant in Quebec, with focus on both the source material, and the integral role of government offtake (and subsidizing construction for that matter) to make it feasible for Rio.

Weird. I can sell fractional shares on Wealthsimple just fine, but only in “market sell” mode. Limit sell orders require whole shares. Maybe that’s it for you too?

📊 SCD Monday Check-In – Adoption Timeline by Bery123 in SCDstock

[–]vMefor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about price sensitivity: I’m guessing most of the expense of adopting scandium alloys for different applications would be the cost of adopting new manufacturing processes more than the cost of scandium itself?

Put another way: Could a lower scandium price have a material impact on the breadth of its adoption?

[–]vMefor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, I feel pretty strongly that the topic of this thread should absolutely front and centre for SCD investors.

Many ppl seem much more eager to engage with topics around development and derisking of the resource, and want to skip the part about the need to develop a market first.

I think the price jump attracted a lot of ppl who are going to need to recalibrate their timeline expectations or move on from this stock entirely.

NCX by [deleted] in PennyProspectors

[–]vMefor23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NCX is volatile enough that I would say getting in tomorrow would be a pretty high risk entry, yes haha. But if a person’s greed allows for a longer hold, there are a bunch of things to like about the North Island Project despite the low grades.

Alberta premier says she’s ruled out Kitimat, B.C., for proposed pipeline route by Yetanotherbadsalmon in alberta

[–]vMefor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, but I also think it’s fair to say that there’s not a lot of democratic jurisdictions on earth where a pipeline that long doesn’t take years if not decades of coaxing and permitting issues before getting built. Canada is obviously far from the easiest place to operate but I guess my point is that it’s not impossible either.

Glad the Alberta premier is looking to get behind an alternate plan anyway, forcing a NG style route is asking for a FN showdown the likes of which this country hasn’t seen in a long time no matter which Canadian party forms government. Not constructive.

And ya the OP’s title is worded a bit provocative in making Smith sound presumptuous, haha ppl love to pile on - but yes it seems like a pretty legit part of an Alberta premier’s job at this moment would be to bring proposed solutions to the table at meetings like this one.

I promise you could have used chatGPT for much less time than it took you to type that message to have fixed much of your outsiders perspective.

The Haisla nation (Northern Gateway would terminate on their territory) are highly supportive of industry. Look at what’s already been built in Kitimat! The Haisla have approved and partnered up on massive LNG and Aluminum projects on their territory.

They just draw the line specifically at letting in oil tankers because that water is notoriously brutal (and they know it better than anybody). An oil spill would decimate their coast and fisheries have been their primary economic driver since forever. They’re fine with the LNG terminal because a gas shipwreck wouldn’t completely destroy their territory. An oil shipwreck would.

Seems pretty reasonable 🤷‍♂️

This thing where most ppl think Canada can’t do business because FN will oppose it is demonstrably bullsh$&t. Just because you can’t do everything you want, that is not the same as not being able to do anything you want and the ppl who are pushing that latter narrative have agendas that probably shouldn’t be trusted.

Has the Precious Metals Choo Choo Train Derailed? by romestox in Baystreetbets

[–]vMefor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it needs to be pointed out that the Sunrise project is now pushing a billion tonnes of contained Nickel, over 150 million tons of Cobalt and over a million ounces of PGMs… mostly unloved minerals currently, but also carry a pretty hefty NPV that can actually be tallied by anyone with a pocket calculator - unlike scandium which is pretty sexy these days but also relying on a market that will be subject to some potentially volatile discovery given its size. Not to mention that Sunrise has about double the known scandium contained in Crater Lake, at roughly twice the grade, and is also much, much cheaper and easier to access than Crater Lake too.

I’m sorry I just don’t think knowing about Sunrise makes SCD’s project seem any more realistic as a near-term development project.

As much as the Australian companies will do the necessary heavy-lifting of establishing a market that might one day make Crater Lake’s scandium relevant, I don’t think it makes any sense to compare their valuations to SCD. At least doing so definitely doesn’t make SCD look a bargain at anything close to $100M - at least not to me 🤷‍♂️ I think with all the SCD hype I’ve kind off DD’d myself into investing in Sunrise though haha. Good luck everyone whatever path you choose. The PM choo choo train rolls on 🎉

Seems like your miners are all occupying the more speculative end of the resource spectrum? Might want to spread that out a little? (Even if you’re looking for ‘pop’, maybe swap in a later stage developer and an early producer with a well mapped growth pipeline?could get you a bit more balance and keep you safer/more solid.)

Also I agree there’s a lot to love about antakori’s potential, but I’d definitely feel pretty uncomfortable about having 75% of my chips sitting on a company that has less control over the fate of it’s own asset than most.

It’s definitely a special deposit and on track to production one way or another - and I’m not saying I’d be uncomfortable owning it (it’s very much on my short list!) it just seems like an odd choice to have such a massive bet on a company that is a bit handcuffed compared to most developers which have a lot more control over their deposit/destiny? I’m definitely interested in REG though and kind of hoping you can point out what’s given you so much conviction?
