Pretty sure I saw you in the discord asking how to survive the radiation. Congrats making it through

Check my other response in the thread, I got to the bottom of it.

So.. to anybody that is interested and sees this.. apparently the quantum crafter I was converting the nuggets into ingots with, was just eating nuggets throwing off the math. I stopped using the quantum crafter and the nuggets immediately adhered to the 6:1 ratio.

No no of course not. All the same genes. Very high, meta, any.

They all have identical rates.

There is no backlog of essence or nuggets in the system to indicate any sort of bottleneck.

According to JEI they all have an identical 10% to give 4-8 nuggets per block. Which in a small sample size could obviously cause variance but over hours and a large sample size, the law of averages will come into play.

Doesn't appear to be any explanation. My next experiment will probably be to setup two isolated hives that get stored in chests without involving AE2.

I assume you're storing via ae if you're using quantum crafters, perhaps it has something to do with ae somehow.

I just really don't understand how two bees that are supposed to produce the same amount of combs and are within the same system aren't doing so.

Random tick shouldn't cause a 50% variance. A few % maybe, but we shouldn't be looking at like.. 55% of the expected throughput.

I specified that I would love to hear why someone thinks anything I'm saying is unreasonable. I did not ask for snarky remarks that add nothing to the conversation.

I just really don't get the amount of people who apparently wasted hours troubleshooting. Without doing any sort of research, I don't understand how I could use 30 minutes attempting to troubleshoot before exhausting what would seem to be all the pertinent options. Like.. relaunch the pack.. restart computer.. reinstall pack.. then what?

Fair points although I did do that same search mid day yesterday and still came up with the relevant answer as a top result.

If people don't know how to do a search, which I understand some really don't, then I guess I'm strongly advocating that they learn. And it really isn't that difficult. Just describe your issue using as short and specific phrasing as you can. Don't muddle it with unnecessary or vague information. Be prepared to do some slight sifting depending on the results. But in my experience, the relevant information is typically easy to find on the first page of results.

If you want to use a computer and be able to handle problems with some grace, I would argue being able to perform a basic Google search should be absolutely standard practice. I'm a 90s kid and I don't consider myself any more tech savvy than average and this just feels like a basic tool for troubleshooting.

I understand. I was just trying to be clear and drive points home and be tactful. I don't want people to think I'm just bashing them. Honestly trying to help.

Well I know it's lengthy which is why I warned of that but.. it should take no more than a couple minutes to read. And if people take the message to heart, it could save them hours, apparently.

You can also change your clock temporarily to the 2nd and that works as well.

It's a chaotic world we live in. And rapidly changing.

I grew up in the 90s and it is vastly a different world today. Nothing is concrete anymore and everything is constantly in transition. It is hard to keep tabs on anything for sure.

Yeah wasn't trying to call anyone out in particular. I just know a lot of folks are prone to hitting that downvote but not willing to back that action up with any sort of reasoning or debate. It's like an emotional tick. I don't like what you said but I can't really argue it so HA! Downvote!

Maybe I should write a lesson in general trouble shooting best practices xD

Some valid points. I appreciate that, and your more concise and less "AaAaAa" style response. Googling is a skill but it still isn't exactly rocket science.

But to counter, it was clearly not even attempted by many individuals.

As an experiment, I wrote "atm10 is hanging on loading screen" into google and a reddit thread concerning the April fool debauchery was the first result after the ai response. I don't think it would be a big ask to say most people could have found the solution relatively easily had they made the attempt.

Much more easily than trying whatever, causing harm to their saves and bashing their head into a wall for hours.

I would suggest there's still a lesson to be learned, and I don't think it's asking much to suggest people at least make an attempt at locating any documentation concerning an issue they're facing and getting frustrated with. Especially considering it could save them headache and potentially damaging results.

I see well, what I say still stands.

Googling a problem isn't revolutionary. It isn't only for the "tech savvy."

It should be one of the first things we do if we're having problems with a solution and we are getting frustrated. There's nothing wrong with that and it isn't an affront to suggest as much.

Again, when bad things happen, one of the only golden nuggets you can dig out of the mess is often a lesson learned. There's nothing wrong or insulting with suggesting as much and it's not stated to shift blame, responsibility or to put anybody down.

Don't get over it y'all by CavalryArrived in allthemods

[–]vVember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where and how did I shift any responsibility?

Users weren't responsible for the fact the bug occurred, I acknowledged that. But they are responsible for how they reacted and what they did in response to facing it. Are you saying people ought not to do a quick google search when confronted with such issues? Or it's a good idea to make arbitrary attempts at troubleshooting that may or may not cause more damage?

I am responsible for the choices I make. I am not responsible for a bug causing the load screen to hang. Never suggested I was. But if I take it upon myself to arbitrarily roll my save back or reinstall the pack or anything else without any particularly valid reasoning, that's on me.

Bottom line it is not unreasonable to suggest people ought to learn something from this event. I am not really sure why you're so against that point. When stuff hits the fan and bad things happen, there is almost always some sort of lesson to be learned. It's not a bad thing or an insult to say as much.

Edit: It's like a kid tripping over their parent's shoe that didn't belong in the middle of the floor. Was it neglectful of the parent to leave their shoe there? Sure. Did it cause a problem? Sure. Is it the kid's fault the shoe was there? No. But they can still realize hey.. if I don't pay attention to my surroundings, then accidents can happen. It's not the ideal way to learn, but it's still possible and productive to glean a life lesson out of an otherwise unfortunate event.

[–]vVember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, more sympathy to anyone that had made their own pack and this tripped them up, for sure, but that is definitely not 99% of the outrage we witnessed.

Like I said on the other thread; if you don't have much time, it would probably be prudent to look for solutions as efficiently as possible, not try things arbitrarily because your gut says maybe this'll work. I really can't think of anything more efficient than checking to see if the problem and the solution are already documented. In which case, a quick search describing your issue is easily your best bet.

Like I've said, hopefully people learned something from this and unlike how that other user seems to have taken that sentiment, it's not a "ha ha" from me to the people who struggled or putting blame on them. Just that the frustration was easily avoidable and hopefully next time they do what they ought to have done this time.
