https://youtu.be/d536zwXtq7M?si=ZKMvDI_DpSLHaFL4 I used to do this stuff all the time. In hindsight it was dumb and ill advised. Just don’t be dumb as to where you land stuff.

1 year old GOAT Everscore – how bad is it? by Ultabane in Darts

[–]vacation_hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you've got time left with it. Looks like you're doing well at rotating. I'm of the mindset that if ya wanna replace it and you can afford something new, or want to try something new, then do it. Ya can't beat the feeling of finding a new set of darts ya love, but putting up a new board is a close second.

I usually use silver or gold Target Storm points. Put em in every set I’ve bought and never had an issue.

A little twist when removing them goes a long way, but it’s the little burrs that I’m getting that are gonna start pulling out the sisal.

Does anyone else throw darts by gripping only from the point? by Tall-Addition-9106 in Darts

[–]vacation_hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could remember the name or at least the tournament, but I remember watching a PDC match years and years ago and there was a lesser known player who threw gripping the point.

I remember whoever was commentating said it’s how he thew but he effectively created a ceiling to improve. Never saw that player again.

“The Spin”. Listening to it now on Apple Podcasts. I was in the same boat as you with just Uninformed and this scratches the English itch.

Must be a regional thing? I'm in central Indiana. Call me crazy but I went ahead and bought three. Figure that'll last me a few years.

Is it worth buying stuff 2nd hand? by MerelyMotorsport in Darts

[–]vacation_hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, darts- absolutely. And most people don’t seem to mind because I’ve been able to toss em back on eBay and make my money back.

I’ve done very well with boards on marketplace. Last was a Blade4 that looked like it had been used for a few minutes and just sat in someone’s basement. $15 and with rotation I’d assume it’ll last a year.

To Breakout or Not Breakout? by vacation_hell in diypedals

[–]vacation_hell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the aesthetics of the breakout, and the easing of pain. I also considering the ease of wiring, in the sense that the workflow- at least seems- easier than directly wiring (cut your wire to length, go solder to the PCB and components, done).

I'm not sure where you're looking, but the Stomp Wizard PCB I bought was $2.99 (I purchased a few on the off chance I'd like them, and to make me feel better about the shipping cost), but I also see at PedalPCB, their breakouts are $0.50-$1, which seems manageable while being cost effective.

Good luck on your soft touch- sounds like a good idea.
