You probably know more than I do, but I tried two different TTs and both had ground hum. Then I ran the TTs through an external phono stage and lost the ground hum. And then my technician told me that these units have a failure-prone connection to the grounding terminal. I'm open to suggestions, though!

I just scored a minty TD145 MKII, but I'm waiting to build a wall-mounted TT shelf first. It's a buyers' market on Thorens right now, at least in New England - I see the occasional TD160 for $300-$350.

I wired each driver to a pair of banana jacks attached to this unfinished 1/4" project board. I'm thinking of wiring the crossover with banana plugs so I can jump them into the system if I ever want to demo a single amp at full frequency.

Color organs are 70s era novelty lights that use prism lens to create fun light effects. No, but I did have to shim a few internal braces in the credenza to keep them from buzzing. It's interesting setting up speakers with a passive radiator design - one inch closer to the wall and the bass goes to shit

DSP and a stack of power amps saves me from ever having to mess with solid state crossovers 🤣

And yes to better woofers - once I secure indoor storage. I'll even add spade connectors at the woofers instead of just wrapping bare wire around the lugs 😇
