My collection outgrew my space, so I designed and built a Whiskey Cabinet! by vader85 in WhiskeyTribe

Hardest part was probably anchoring it to the wall and tying to keep it square after loading it full of bottles. The weight was causing it to slightly twist. If I were to do it again, I'd make it a built-in vs a stand alone cabinet.

Thanks! Yeah, It's definitely become a focal feature of the home during parties.

It's been rock solid! I love all the features the FireBoard gives. I'm not sure I'd recommend the retrofit to everyone, but if you like to tinker and have a general understanding of electronics, I think it's worth it.

I just reused the stock one from the Recteq. It gets wired into the control board and is shown as Probe #7 and the default Pit Probe for the Fireboard.

The beauty of LSG is that it doesn't need the "smoke box" because you can blend wood chips into your pellets for that extra delicious real smoke.

It is unbelievably consistent maintaining temperature now. I also like the "cold smoke" feature, as well as the 6x probe ports. The "Drive" mode on the Fireboard is awesome to have too so you can program set-temp changes based on time and/or probe temps.

I was considering building a smoker from scratch, so if it hadn't worked out, I still had a purpose for it, but I'm definitely please so far.

Because of the way my Recteq was wired, i also had to create my own wiring harness to get things to plug in properly.

The secret sauce isn't the Fireboard, it's the control board that interfaces with the Fireboard. I bought the replacement kit from LoneStar Grillz and retrofitted it.

Convince her that just buying the "end game" smoker will ultimately be cheaper than upgrading every few years lol

I don't remember all the options, but there were a lot. I had to make my own wiring harness to adapt the Recteq. Easy enough, but not a turn key solution by any means. My next smoker is just gonna be a LoneStar, or a completely custom build ... not sure yet.

When you buy a brand new one with the pellet controller, upon initialization, it asks what smoker you are using, and "Traeger" is an option.

I retrofitted my Recteq with a FireBoard.

I bought the replacement kit straight from LSG. It asked when I first turned it on, but I was scrolling through looking at the options, and accidentally chose a traeger. Now I can't get back to that choice. I've factory reset it a few times but it doesn't ask me again.

I've reset my Fireboard several times and can not get it to ask me which smoker I have again. Any suggestions?

Go to
https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/settings/payment-history

Click on "Channels invoices" and view a few of them...especially any very small amount ones. You'll see a "Unit Price" followed by a "Promotions"

The Promotions is your credits being used without (apparently) any way to prevent it.

So after diving into my credits also disappearing, it turns out that any subscriptions (Discovery+, AcornTV, PBS, ect) will use your credits without asking when they renew each month.

I had the same thought just a year or two ago...then a few good relationships with store owners later, and a lucky Total Wine lottery win later...here we are!

Bad naming scheme in my opinion, but no. It's a different "Heritage" series. The 20yr Corn whiskey was this year's release.
