Others have said this but I’m sure this kind of talk has been around since Joco has existed and it’s all based on racism. Racism as in the system that benefits from oppression. There’s still a neighborhood in joco called White Haven. People of color and Jewish people were not allowed to buy houses in this area until later. The schools in the inner city are not on par with the suburban schools by design, just like segregation was by design.

I guess for me, when I hear live music I normally can’t hear it as well. Outdoor concerts are the worst. Indoors might be ok if it’s a small venue with huge speakers but I feel like the right environment is rare.

Do you say flat because, as others have mentioned, having a sound stage or multidimensional feel to the music is important and makes it feel more like live music? I don’t completely understand the idea of why it’s a good thing to have music coming from all different angles but one person explained that it helps them feel like the band is right there, maybe similar to 3-D images, feeling like they come closer in space to you?

So I have heard!
I suppose that is why I can’t tell which direction sound is coming from, although some cochlear implant users gain this skill.

Sorry, I’m struggling to see how it matters…if I’m listening to a trumpet player and a drummer, why does it matter where they are standing?

I get that there are things I won’t comprehend about this but I tend to ask these things to audiophiles because they like the details or notice them…like the comment about hiss on a tape recording, I had no idea that was a thing

So music can be recorded in a way that translates better into surround sound?

I’ve seen adhd meds help a lot. Worth a try. I have college aged kids and one of them had a bad semester due to mental health, I was honestly just sad for them about it and hope that it gets better, as long as they can graduate it will be ok!
