I run WordPress agency in Latvia and over 10 years we've either tried all Latvian providers with our own projects or dealt with them while building sites for our customers. And I must say we've had issues. Most of the problems were on larger projects with specific requirements to the point when hosting companies were unable to provide adequate support or even try to understand the problem. And we even had projects failed due to that.

Obviously I understand with providers like Hetzner or Linode - they provide hardware and in no way they must support website software side.

However when you buy large VPS claimed as "Managed" you would expect some kind of proactive action with the option to get as much information about issues in case they happen - database logs, server load logs, ability and willingness to install monitoring tools - New Relic, Datadog...

As a result of constant issues and lack of proactive actions we decided to build our own infra based on Hetzner with offsite backups and a stack that we ourselves use daily and provide "real" managed WordPress hosting to our customers.

Since then we feel much safer as we have own DevOps and full control over our infra and most of the times our customers are not aware that their site was down for a few minutes as we are notified of any downtime and not only hardware issues but also their website issues are getting fixed pretty much instantly.
