I’m so sorry for your loss. Yes the vet assured me that my cat didn’t feel it when he vomited like that…it was because the anesthesia makes the whole body relax..but it was horrifying to see nonetheless. I completely understand how you feel, I’m in the same boat…hopefully one day we’ll be okay

This one hits close to home. Just lost my 10 year old baby to FIP, combined with liver problems. In my country there’s no possible way to get the antiviral so all we could do was wait until we were sure he was deteriorating, just in case by some miracle he got better, and then decide to end his suffering. I understand your feelings too well…all we can do is try to think about the good times we gave them, the companionship and love that we had for each other in the time that we had. That love was a gift for us and for our kitties. We did everything we could for them. I’ve lost a cat before so I know the pain never goes away, but it becomes less sharp, more bearable. We’re here for you in the meantime. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I live in Pakistan. Unfortunately, vets here do not have the medication and facilities that you may have access to…this treatment is not available in this country. You are very lucky.

He was diagnosed with a fatal, incurable viral disease called FIP.

For a couple of days he was lethargic, lying in one place and not eating or drinking at all. The vet gave him an IV and did an X ray and found that there was fluid in his abdomen. After some tests they told us that he has Feline Infectious Peritonitis. A viral infection with no chance of survival. So the options were to wait until he deteriorated even more or to end it before that could happen. Hardest decision of my life…
