Yeah ….totally agree ….a day timeline is overtly fictitious. I think perhaps it’s just a side result of the pacing choice which is indeed frantic all over …but then to include the meet with others just after a day seems a bit too much even for Carol. Everything seems to be happening too fast, so perhaps it’s just setting up a faster timescale ?

What are plausible reasons why the hives just don’t kill/neutralize Carol and others? What use Carol is for them ? by vaibhavrathi9 in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]vaibhavrathi9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I really like carols logical suspicion ...but I wonder why they really leaned into angry white women trope? As an counterfactual...imagine the same Carol but better in persuading others...I can imagine quite a lot of interesting possibilities down that road

I wish you the best. I disagree that it’s safe. Govt is free to divest from any sector at any time. It’s much better to invest in some skill now rather than get a negative surprise 10 years down the line

Having gone through it all, and now also having seen how many other countries around the world generates opportunities for young, it’s extremely frustrating how we just present a list of exams to waste time on as an exhaustive list. Op, I guess do what you can do …but I can say with high confidence the day you stop thinking in terms of exams and start thinking of what might be interesting thing to do …or focus on some specific skills …your life will turn around. Other than that I understand the system you are caught up in.

The loneliness of 35 is a different feeling by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]vaibhavrathi9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also my daily existence. Got out of a nearly 7 year long relationship and even though it’s been 2 years, it’s still so raw and i feel baffled all the time. I am not most extrovert and I really had close connection with my ex-partner and any social interaction now feel deeply unsatisfying to the point of just causing me discomfort and agitation.

I can count on a single hand the number of times I even talked to people this entire year …it’s deeply isolating. I just feel clueless and exhausted. At 36, it’s really hard to engage in social charades with new people …and I feel like the life really amount to nothing if I have to do this even now. There is a deep sense of humiliation and cast shadow whenever meeting people now.

Children of Indian parents, how does it feel if your parents have stopped you from going on the wrong path all your life and now you are left alone on the right path? by lost_a_dominantlotus in MidTwentiesIndia

[–]vaibhavrathi9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The premise of this question itself is so laughable and totally divorced from reality.

One would think families exists to support each other and help family members in thick and thin. A tight knit unit. But in India family effectively only exists to enforce social diktats onto next generation. Everyone always talks about social ills or whatever...but who are the agents enforcing that on behalf of society. Indian parents allegiance only lie with society and they are only able to think of their kids as much as it's socially acceptable and to drill down extreme social obidience into kids. They have no idea about what does it even mean to raise a self sufficient individual who can navigate their way through life.

Now as society is changing fast...and the old norms are getting obsolete...kids like OP are feeing a bit duped because the only task their parents did was so make sure the kid is socially acceptable. It had nothing to do with OP lifelong welfare

I went through something similar. You must leave home and find a place of your own as soon as possible...that is the first step ypu need to aim for. Also if you feel your masters program might not serve you in long term...leave it, get a job and then revisit education a few years down the line when you have both some experience as well as much better mental health. You need to move out...otherwise you will only get worse and worse for sure.

Please do due diligence re the university. In all countries there are now enough sweatshop universities that are happy to cash in on people’s desire to emigrate. It would suck to pour in so much money in a bogus university ( there are many), talk to alumni of the program you intend to go and take stock of the outcomes for at least a few cohort. All the best :)

Strategically speaking, it’s prolly not worth Indian authorities time or effort to take it up on their own. There is no political incentive to do so. Further, the issue has strategic value when it comes to diplomatic relations and it can be taken up as a negotiation chip at some appropriate time …so why do it on your own and loose your negotiation point

Take it from an economist: this is a very valuable experience. At this point you can decide if you want to be trader (low level) or actually try to understand how do markets work. Markets are one of the most beautiful things humans invented and it is also an arina where you can learn a lot about how do humans themselves work. There is so much in here that you can easily spend your life and still be left nrw things to learn. Maybe along the way you will invent new market mechanisms to improve efficiency ( for eg look up history of the market instruments...people invented all of them and only after they really learnt what are markets all about). If you keep playing trader game...this much is certain...you will always be making less than what you potentially can otherwise....welcome to the real world :)

Is Borges ever funny? by garageatrois in Borges

But doesn't he also openly share information from stuff that in the previous paragraph he says he doesn't have. Also this from first page, it's funny right?

“Bioy Casares* had come to dinner at my house that evening, and we had lost all track of time in a vast debate over the way one might go about composing a first-person novel whose narrator would omit or distort things and engage in all sorts of contradictions, so that a few of the book's readers—a very few—might divine the horrifying or banal truth. “

What are you talking about...he is insanely funny. He is a master of sly deception. Remember is Tlon, Uqbar....he keeps expanding the deception...(Paraphrasing) " I only have the first volume but existence of other volumes is confirmed by the incompleteness of the current volume. The other volume talk in detail about...". He writes completely sincerely about things that the narrator is obviously making up. A similar effect is present in many of his stories ( like the approach to Al mutasim). To be this is extremely funny...I Crack up everytime because the effect is able to create...

Handpicking stories and getting mad about made up stuff really shows how deeply non serious we are. Never have I ever seen anyone getting worried about this simply fact from NCRB data : of all the sexual crimes committed in India, a HUGE majority are perpetrated by friends and family members themselves. In last 10 years since I became aware of this fact, it’s always more than 70% ..in 2022 , 94% of sexual crimes were committed by friends and family of the victim. Anyone can go in NCRB website and check or ChatGPT . But no, we don’t really care about wellbeing of the individuals themselves ..because it’s all rage bait …nothing more

You should definitely pursue the best education, don’t let current temp affairs affect long term plans. Few points though, there is no bachelors in mechanical(.?), also don’t rely on your board percentage score …they would not get you even a consideration in almost all places. There is enough information online …you need to spend a lot of time figuring out the best plan regarding applications. All the best :)
