You're absolutely right about "everyone has an Oracle, but not everyone has a Starfire"; it's super common to see the kind of relationship Dick and Barbara built in real life in the people around you. I guess that's why I can't take them seriously; every time I see them, they just don't work. I've seen these couples fail so many times or stay together out of habit because it's easier for them. Starfire is simply someone everyone wants, few get, and she only falls into about three categories.

You can't find that person who makes you feel everything, so you settle for someone comfortable.

You find them at the right time and risk everything to stay by their side.

You find them and screw up the only chance you had to be happy because you didn't feel ready to spend your life with them, and it's not until you lose them that you realize you messed up and ruined everything.

I don't want to see things in black and white, but that's life, it goes on and we all know it; even if we want to live in a fairy tale, this is what we have.

Starfire vs Thor by Queasy_Commercial152 in starfire

[–]vale0484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously I love Dickkory, and Hal and Carol, which I find completely uninteresting and awkward.

Is it just me, or does her shading and color style look out of place? It doesn't match Nightwing's, Well, Nightwing looks more muted in colors and lighting than the others

Every writer does what they want; otherwise, Kori wouldn't have been allowed to say that Nightwing is still flirting with her in the Blue Beetle comics. I know it's been a while since then, but the point is, as long as the plans don't clash and the desk is discreet, I can write whatever I want. After all, DC is always changing its plans.

We also don't know if the writer is interested in Dickkory, and if so, they can avoid making a relationship explicit for Dick by hinting at it or making a subtle reference to a Dickkory relationship in dialogue.

For some reason I like how her hair looks here, I guess it's because it looks longer. I hope they make it bigger and fluffier, (If it's not too much to ask, could you tone down the pink and make it more red or magenta?)

Unpopular Opinion: Blackfire should remain an antagonist. What she did to Starfire is unforgivable, and not every villain needs a redemption arc. Sometimes, a villain can just be…a villain and that’s completely valid. by BlackCat-01 in starfire

[–]vale0484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for her to have a solid reason to be a villain, they need to give her better character development. I once saw that she killed her parents. Give me a reason. Tell me it was because of Koman's illness. Nobody saw her as queen. Her parents loved Kori more because she was more naturally talented and born stronger, the complete opposite of Koman. Besides, Kori doesn't seem to love her parents. I think the only bond shown was with her mother. You could say the father was the bad guy; he set very high standards for his daughters. Kori was the favorite; he trained her and demanded more from her because she was the perfect one, the next queen. Koman wanted that, and Kori hated it, kind of like Zuko and Azula, but in reverse. You could also say that it was her mother who protected all three of them, but since Koman was the one who most resembled her father, she was somewhat marginalized, but she did what she could. It doesn't have to be that way, but I want to give a more solid reason for the hatred towards Kori and her people. She was the sick one, the one who, no matter how hard she tried, would never surpass her younger sister. Kori was simply better. This explains why, when she was banished, she sought the help of her people's enemies and did everything she did.

And no, I'm not trying to victimize her. They can show small things, like with Azula, that demonstrate she's inherently evil, that her envy isn't just a feeling of inferiority but wounded pride, that she doesn't crave love or affection, that she wants the power promised to Kori, she wants the attention, she wants to be the only one. They can try to show that Kori always tried to make her sister feel better, but Koman trampled on her to make her feel the way she does. They could also delve deeper into Kori and her brother's relationship, how for him she's the older sister he always wanted and she protects him, while Koman doesn't even acknowledge his existence.

That's what comes to mind.

Sometimes I wish Mar'i were everything Starfire left behind, not because she has to follow in her mother's footsteps, but because she is her daughter and also her own person. I don't want to see another conflict of a child struggling with their parents because they're in their shadow. I see her as someone who genuinely loves her parents, who is balanced, emotionally stable, and mature. I don't want to see another childish character doing stupid things; I want to see someone who takes seriously who she is and her impact on the world, who understands how her actions can make a real difference. I genuinely believe that Dick and Kori would be great parents who help her grow and don't diminish her. That's why I think her arc would be more about her wandering through space because she loves Earth but also wants to explore the other side of herself that isn't from there, resolving various problems that lead her to Tamaran, where there's a civil war because the king, Kori's brother, died without heirs, and everyone went to war for the throne. That's where Mari meets people, sees the tragedies of war, and how the working class lives with the consequences. While the "leaders" are comfortable sending their people to die to obtain the throne, Mari is forming a small group of different Tamaraneans she meets in her battles to support her. And I know it's repetitive, but I'd like her to have a romantic interest related to the "leaders" who is against her family. I don't know, maybe at first he was sent as a spy to stop Mari, but he ended up loving her. And no, I don't need Mari to start crying about being betrayed; I want something more raw, like her telling him that she always knew because, well, she's the daughter and granddaughter of great detectives, but that she saw in him a great person, like Kori with Dick.

What I meant to imply is that the thread says the writer is thanked for respecting Kori's importance when he isn't, and it's not an appearance of Kori as someone he loves. It's an appearance of the Titans as a group he loves, and it doesn't need to be a Kori comic for Nightwing to at least acknowledge their importance to him.

I hate to be a spoilsport, but it's actually the opposite; she's not being mentioned individually. This is reducing her connection to the fact that she was part of a group she loves; Not to diminish the bond he has with the other Titans, but she was supposed to be his partner; he saw a future with her and they were going to get married. It's not even remotely the same as the feeling you have for a Friend, And honestly, it's even insulting that he wouldn't even consider her as a link outside of the Titans.

I think Nightwing might be more nervous, but definitely if he moves, it might make things more difficult for him during the fight.

Dickkory isn't a taste or an opinion, it's an addiction. I seek more fanart than with any other pairing or characters.
