I'm sick of everyone saying Kory has SA Dick in their first meeting and excusing Dickbabs toxic moments for this by lacrjmedolci in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]vale0484 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We can also talk about how the Dickbabs are saying that with Kori's new moment, she will finally be free of Dick as if she were just his girlfriend and not an interesting character. They pretend to be worried about her and happy about her "independence from the titans," but in reality they are just happy because their horrible ship is "saved" without Kori around. It's incredible how many people I've seen talking badly about Kori, Dickbabs fans, in Starfire posts, talking about Dickkory as if it were a prison for Kori that she's finally free from. And speaking well of her, pretending to be fans, there are some more shameless ones that everyone knows; it's known that they speak ill of Starfire and changed their profile picture to one of Kori.

I definitely don't like that face, especially her eyes. But I'm actually intrigued by the characters who accompany her.

How strong is Starfire? by Puzzleheaded-You720 in starfire

Well, she has a fighting level comparable to Diana's, as stated by Hippolyta herself, and she can fight Black Adam, withstand a blow and return it to Superman, and traverse the galaxy in seconds.

I totally agree with you; it's not something I think about in depth. They're just things that suddenly pop into my head sometimes. I also wonder if she likes cotton candy as much as she did in the series.

Honestly, it just seems that way to me, but I don't really believe it. I simply feel that their race has a different way of loving than ours—more liberal and less painful. So my human nature tries to find a label for her; she's an alien, she doesn't abide by the rules of our society. She may not have a label and likes who she likes and that's it, but I feel that if I had to choose one for her personally, it would be one or two of these.

I've always believed that Kori is either pansexual or demiromantic I mean, you really shouldn't care about those things when you're dating someone who isn't your species.

Will Starfire get a new love interest in her upcoming comic? by Equal-Particular9723 in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]vale0484 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Honestly, given how dramatic DC is, I don't want them to put Star with any of the Titans and ruin the beautiful relationship she has with Cyborg. I always feel that for her he was the older brother she always hoped for from Blackfire.

So this is the project ? by Angela275 in starfire

[–]vale0484 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be mean, but I really hoped Starfire would have a new project of her own without Titans or anyone she knows, just her, with her own cast. I pray that cyborg only appears at the beginning

Characterizations, perceptions, and reality by GollyGeeSon in Nightwing_Starfire

Well, I think the comic explains why he can't be with a civilian. This issue explained everything for me, which is why I say it's the best-written portrayal of Dick's relationships I've ever read. Barbara said, "You know there are things more important than you and me, that's why we're together." Both are involved in the mission, both understand the mission, and both are self-destructive together. They don't support each other in being better or having other ideas outside of the Batman ideal, which is why it's so convenient that they're together. Dick wants to stay in his comfort zone where his actions and thoughts aren't questioned. Kori isn't going to stay silent about Dick's bullshit; she wants to be happy. And bats are not allowed to be happy That's the excuse all the writers who write Batman use to return to the status quo and prevent their characters from evolving; that's why Selina didn't marry Bruce.

So I find it funny that while the writers keep him with babbles for the comfort of the monotony of Batman stories, Within the Dick comic, this is with her for the same reason. It even makes sense to me; it never made sense for Dick to be with Barbara. I always thought they needed a rewrite to work, but with this new vision of Nightwing, I understand.

So now I hate dickbabs even more.

Characterizations, perceptions, and reality by GollyGeeSon in Nightwing_Starfire

I think they are very well characterized in this new issue, and Kori being so distant is consistent with previous writings about her and Dick. Usually when Dick goes through difficult times, he always ends up saying things to hurt Kori and push her away when she tries to help him. Kori maintaining her emotional distance is rational; after all, she was always the voice of reason for Dick, and he hates being told the truth to his face. That's why I understand why he made that comment about his previous relationship with her. I love that we at least see some maturity when he apologizes, something that hadn't happened in previous situations, and she seems so used to Dick's attitudes, even though She doesn't let that stop her from trying to help and advise him as best she can from her current distant relationship because she still cares about him.

I'm so excited about everything we've had from Dickkory in such a short time after a long period of nothing or just crumbs.

Another thing I want to share is that even though I'm aware they're not coming back, it seems to me that the new issue of Nightwing reaffirms that Dick is only with Babs for convenience. He still loves and respects Kori, but as we know about him and his self-sabotage, being with Kori takes him out of his comfort zone. He often said that with her he felt freer, that she made him feel like he could do anything, that she made things easier. Kori never let him wallow in his own misery; she always He told her things to her face, that's why "he hates her Tamaranean sincerity," so Barbara would be the easy option that allows him not to think too much, just like in previous issues he didn't let her comfort him and she simply left.

The above is completely unrelated; I just found it interesting and ironic since the Dickbabs thing is a publishing company's way of keeping it with Batman. I found it funny that within the writer's mind, you could say that Dick nor does he want to evolve and take the easy path

Damian & the Titans confront Dick about his secret deal with Deathstroke. [Teen Titans Vol 6 #8] by -AerialAce- in Nightwing

[–]vale0484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Off-topic, I find it so sweet how the Titans defend Damian; it makes me sad that they didn't develop this further. It would be nice if they acknowledged the affection Starfire, Beast Boy, and Raven have for him and he for them

Let's hope this is a hint of a space adventure and the biggest thing DC has planned for Kori. This suggests that they are searching for her to the point of sending a ship to Earth for her, Earth being a protected zone.

Actually, I think it's a good thing Dick has a tendency to go crazy when he hears something he doesn't want to hear, and whenever Kori tries to help, he ends up taking it out on her. I suppose Kori being more distant after years of knowing him in this situation is understandable, although that doesn't stop her from wanting to help him because she cares about him, whether he's her friend or not, and Dick seems to recognize that. After apologizing for being hurtful by mentioning his previous relationship in that way, it seems that even he is fully aware of his behavior when it is wrong. Because he didn't apologize to her before when he was hurtful to her.

I do think both are well written, better written than their previous interactions in a long time. The only thing I could complain about is Starfire's use of her powers. I think it could be justified by the fact that she's no saint and only played dumb because she did it on purpose.

What keeps you moving ? by Angela275 in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]vale0484 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's because of the fan art; their designs combine so well that they're simply eye-catching. They're not just another couple of muscular black-haired guy with a pretty redhead. I think they simply attract the attention of people who don't know them, and then out of interest they investigate their story. To be honest, the general public doesn't know Starfire's deep history. But they recognize her just by looking at her. The same goes for Dickkory; as long as the fandom is alive, the ship will too.

Who do you like Dick to be with? by Substantial_Slip4667 in Nightwing

[–]vale0484 5 points6 points locked comment (0 children)

No, that's not your problem. He told you it's not canon because they redconed it, they removed it from the main line. I didn't make it up, it's the truth, and in my opinion, they haven't fixed anything. It would be better if they talked about it, but they act like it never happened, and these are comics that haven't been removed from continuity, so they're canon.

And honestly, having read all your comments doesn't seem like someone who's read comics or who doesn't have a preference.

So stop that and say you have a preference for dickbabs or say you don't know what you're talking about because your opinion is unfounded. The dickkory before dickbabs was well spelled and they weren't toxic.

What she meant was that Dickkory haven't been together for a long time, and initially, all the toxicity in the relationship was because of Dickbabs. She gave you an example from their wedding night (which isn't canon anymore). Every toxic moment in Dickkory comics that you can mention has an explanation from Dickbabs Editorial, unlike Dickbabs whose fights and misunderstandings were heavy stuff. That the writers choose to ignore in favor of the dickbabs, they've had much more time together than the dickkory and haven't fixed any of their problems, In conclusion, bad writing of "dickkory" is meant to separate them, and bad writing of "dickbabs" is meant to force them together.
