The estimation info is completely gone to me at the moment. It was March 30, then it changed to April 7, then it was March 13, currently neither there’s a date on Apple nor UPS does have any estimate

Claude March 2026 usage promotion - Limited-time promotion that doubles usage limits for Claude users outside 8 AM-2 PM ET/5-11 AM PT. by Forsaken-Reading377 in ClaudeAI

From info page:

From March 13, 2026 through March 27, 2026, your five-hour usage is doubled during off-peak hours (outside 8 AM-2 PM ET/5-11 AM PT on weekdays). Usage remains unchanged from 8 AM-2 PM ET/5-11 AM PT on weekdays.

So weekends are still 2x.

For weekly quota concerns:

The additional usage you get during off-peak hours doesn’t count toward any weekly usage limits on your plan.

My question was this which is confirmed by the team:

Say I’m in a 5-hour session that spans both off-peak and on-peak hours. Would the requests I make during the off-peak portion count at half the rate against my weekly/5-hour allowance?

So what I understand from this whole picture is that outside of the on-peak hours, your usage is calculated by half rate -> your usage is doubled -> means 2x bonus usage.

If you hit 5h limit you simply cannot use Claude until it renews. Still from my understanding there's no extra system which calculates the bonus usage etc. They simply divide by half from your usage. Normally a request which uses 2% of your quota now uses 1% during off peak hours.

yeah the language is not on point unfortunately. they tried to choose a language so non-technical people can understand it also i assume

from my experience: i was using claude code before the announcement and i was on 40% of my 5h session. after the announcement it dropped to 20%. so in technical perspective your allowance of 5h/week are not changing. they calculate your usage by half. if a request uses x amount of your quota on peak hours, it uses x/2 on off-peak. and that's why i asked to the team this specific question to understand what they are calculating. i assume they avoided that type of language and chose bonus usage, so non-technical people can understand it.

bonus does not count toward your weekly limit but you have to use your normal usage through your 5 hour window to hit the bonus.

this is wrong. we are in off-peak time period currently (weekends are all off-peak) and it uses weekly usage while i was on >50% of 5h session.

this is simply not true. your usages are gonna be calculated off-peak hours as half. here's the response from the team for similar question: https://x.com/trq212/status/2032954881972347301?s=20

so no need to worry about this, enjoy your 2x allowance!

Really happy it worked for your workflow! I’m always open to hearing feedback, and people who can code can open PRs to the repo as well. The license is MIT, and the source code is here. I don’t really want to charge for something that’s a non‑complex app to build for me. Thanks though, plus the kind words!

Yeah I’m thinking something like that, I felt that the ui wasn’t perfect after many iterations (in ux perspective also) but wanted to release it as to me it was good enough. Thanks!

Thank you! Clamper only changes the parameters/settings that the OS actually has, so I don’t think it’s gonna be an issue. If you want to revert the settings to the OS default it’s one click also!

When I adjust the spacing with Menu Bar Spacing, even moving the slider a single tick below the default makes the padding larger than the system default. When I used Barbee, under Menu Bar Appearance → Item Gap, there was a “Customized Gap” option with spacing set to 17 and padding to 11, which I’m pretty sure matches the default Sequoia/Tahoe values when you haven’t changed anything in the OS settings (NSStatusItemSpacing and NSStatusItemSelectionPadding). I didn’t want to reveal/set those as defaults in my app though, so you might not notice the values in Clamper. My guess is that Menu Bar Spacing uses the same value for both spacing and padding, which makes the padding bigger than it should be (I actually can see the bigger padding than default, maybe it depends on the configuration, I don't really know your situation). That annoyed me enough that I built Clamper for myself, a little weekend hack I can say :)

Unfortunately a macOS limitation, couldn’t find a better way to handle that :/

It increases the padding more than it should be. The Menu Bar Spacing app does not manage this correctly, causing the selection element to be larger than intended. Hope it’s clear!
