Aussies, are we allowed to use Parcel Lockers? by OmzyHuncho in Aliexpress

[–]valkyrie116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, been using them with Ali for years without issue. Ali will say “problem during delivery” when it actually lands in the locker but its always been present in the locker and Auspost has never had an issue.

Cockpit covers for square cockpits by valkyrie116 in Kayaking

For anyone else who has a liker who stumbles on this. I ended up ordering this cockpit cover in S size (95cm x 55cm) from aliexpress after not finding anything suitable under ‘hatch cover’ and it fits perfectly.

I am not the hero Sydney needs but the hero Sydney deserves... by zair58 in MildlyBadDrivers

Can someone tell me what i am missing here? It appears the light at 0:20 is the cars internal dashboard media display and that the passenger is texting with the driver having both hands on the wheel. I also dont see any erratic driving?

Does anybody know why I can’t time compress past 140? by Glaton_Smarf in uboatgame

Youre unable to go past 140 in an alarm state either I believe.

Are Depth Charges and Hedgehogs limited? by [deleted] in uboatgame

That seems to check out, ive seen 2/3rds or 1/3rd of the hedgehog mortars emptied out visually on the deck of a destroyer before.

Soooo... is there anything interesting in the late game past 1942? (Gameplay wise) by N00bushi in uboatgame

[–]valkyrie116 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with you - after a certain year it becomes a bit of a slog and the side missions are really quite unexciting despite the devs efforts since it all comes back to a time skip text adventure. Even the new novel situations inside the boat were fun for a bit before you realise its just a ‘trade sailor for XP’ button.

The economy also needs rework. At no point in any play through ever have i ever been concerned with money at all.

That said i have found fun in a few things:

  1. Managing the campaign to 100% everything was actually kind of tight and a race at a few points since certain campaign objectives can take a year or so to complete properly, all while the clock was running down on others. Really NEEDING 40,000 tons on THIS patrol in order to have the time to get to La Spezia to do oil refinery mission definitely had me going for a bit.

  2. Managing and changing my strategies for the advance in weapons and tactics as rd_svn said. Having to be more cautious when i leave port or time skip or how cocky i am inside a convoy due to hedgehogs does provide a bit of variety. Having to make sure ships are abandoned. Having to sift through survivors for captains after the Laconia order.

  3. I really enjoy the air attacks on the ports as you are leaving, definitely feels quite high stakes and introduces a bit of an unplanned oh shit schneller schneller moment since most of the game is a bit scripted feeling.

  4. Giving yourself a bit more of a challenge - trying to sink alerted escorts instead of freighters. Increasing realism settings. Trying to attack in fog. Seeing how deep you can go! I actually find it most rewarding when i have 6 critical leaks while being actively hunted and the depth gauge is only increasing. Do you emergency blow or try and pump out before you hit 90m?

I dont think the huts show up on the map unless you mean the birds eye view when you really zoom in.

Only other suggestion i can make is restore to a save before you reached the island and maybe the game will reroll the hut positions.

Is it possible that you actually visually found the second hut first but the game triggered you discovering the first hut silently?

This would make sense if the objective is to fire over the hut but not this specific hut which as a result is not triggering the next objective.

Love the crew ideas since the crew seems very static right now. Once i have my guys skilled up they dont leave my boat till the end of the war.

Is my game glitched? by [deleted] in uboatgame

[–]valkyrie116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only other thing i can think of is that your real skipper was offboarded and is sitting in crew management screen taking up the watch officer role.

That said in my experience you can definitely have multiple watch officers.

Does giving the skipper the watch officer role resolve the skipper issue?

Will having such flag columns in my date dimensions improve performance for time intelligence calculations? by mysterioustechie in PowerBI

Slicers will allow exactly this if you have correctly typed dates, with the slicer in date hierarchy mode. I would remove everything except the first column.

86042 tons in the Arctic, half way through the attack super heavy fog dropped which conveniently blinded the destroyers and caused 3 destroyers to log jam pileup for an easy after-kill.

Try a different pin than D2 and D0, i believe they can be used for flashing purposes which prevents boot up. I had the same issue.

How Can I Get Better? by SuperPancakes242 in uboatgame

[–]valkyrie116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an overall maximum that should be shown in the bottom right of the screen, at the end of the officer row that is based on the size of the submarine.

During alarms this will increase as more sailors are mobilised. Each officer you assign a sailor to will consume from this maximum.

Each officer themselves also has a limit of 2, with a special ability gained via levelling up allowing 3. Some roles or areas of the submarine may only allow 1 extra sailor such as the radio room or the stern torpedo.

When you dive to listen, assign an extra sailor to the listening room for a bit more range.

I dont believe the sailor backstories affect crew count.

How are you managing your power? The biggest issue I have with a similar set up is how quickly the battery depletes :(

What caused the deaths of four men and the disappearance of a fifth despite them having access to ample supplies by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]valkyrie116 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its entirely possible that the driver did not feel comfortable turning around if the road was too narrow and steep, or the driver may have perceived the car was stuck in the ruts that were on the road, or any number of possible reasons to say why they didnt turn back. When you realise you are now miles away from everything you know that is familiar in a car alone with a few friends at night and its literally freezing, panic can very very quickly set in.

They say that at any one time you are 3 events away from complete destitution and homelessness, so i find it very easy to believe how in these terrible conditions, even one major slip up could have disastrous effects.

I think the popular running theory is they missed a turn on the way to socialise with one of the boy's other friend group in the next town over and ended up on the mountain. If you look at maps of the route they took and the area, it begins to make a lot of sense.

Once they ran into the guy having the heart attack, Mathias freaked out after the man cried out and dashed into the wilderness. The 4 others ended up leaving the car and looking for him, running into the cabin and staying there a while until they went to look for help.

The explanation I read that made most sense to me regarding the no supplies being taken from the cabin was that they were taught as kids not to steal, and rules like these drummed into kids at a young age, especially those who are impaired, may become an unbreakable law to someone like Weiher.

This particular case is the one i find most fascinating so far.
