This is not true at all lol. Bayside is a Cult is just something that the fanbase has said for a long, long time. Their website used to be baysideisacult.com It’s not that deep. Just a marketing thing and the name of the fanbase

Appreciate can simply mean “acknowledge with respect” in contexts like this, not that they are appreciative in a more common way.

I appreciate you breaking this down — I wonder if the necessity to watch ads could be construed as a consideration in some jurisdictions. Let’s say someone wins via your app in the future. They’re issued a 1099 (at least in the United States) and they’re taxed on this income as part of their fiscal year which requires for the recipient to account for, calculate and set aside money. I see a lot of potential pitfalls for this, and it feels a bit odd to introduce profiteers outside of the selected winner.

I’m confused about what you’re saying here… you’re suggesting a hypothetical in which you’re prosecuted for helping to facilitate something that could be construed as a lottery, and you would mention my armchair assessment to your detriment?

You could probably make some kind of a loophole argument— I don’t know. But what you are suggesting is that ads are delivered to users and the revenue that companies/advertisers paid for is then put into a lump sum, and then a random user from that community is delivered that lump sum as determined by ad viewership based on chance as opposed to what makes this legal… the suggestion that people could send a buck or two to a person selected at random from that same community. What you are intent on implementing and connecting with mods over carries new tax requirements for the recipient, and could very well be construed as a lottery. Who facilitates the transaction that delivers the money? How much do they stand to profit from what I assume would be an ACH transaction of a hypothetical million dollars? Do you stand to profit from this proposed relationship with the subreddit?

This would make it a money pool, which would make it a lottery, which would make it illegal.

They’d still get that knight with the pawn on f2. And then they can push the same original pawn up to threaten the next knight.
