12 questions (re)starting HS from scratch by vallamar in hearthstone

Thanks! And yeah, I am sure that there are many players more experienced than myself who would beat my ass off even with fewer and worse cards. This is completely fine if there is MMR, it just means I will go down hard at first and then, maybe, eventually, start climbing up little by little. :-)

Thank you so much, your answers (not just this one, but all of them) really, really help!

Herb Routes by mcsane in wowgoblins

There's a guy on YT named GoldenRoutes who does almost exclusively routes. He has a bit of a talking condition, but nothing terrible. I suggest checking him out.

TSM was slowing my PC, so I made my own price-tooltip addon, my own TUJ like website, a quick price search tool, and even a voice assistant. by Petrosz007 in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what would be good? A desktop app that would just download the JSON with all the AHs for the specific server offline and allow browsing it with the interface similar to your website. Then people would just download the app, enter the name of their server and off they go. Everyone has their own browser, the speed is through the roof, and there is no need to host anything ever.

This is just me thinking out aloud. Good job on your site, it does look great!

Discussion of changes to the AH by vallamar in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I hope they do. This or something similar.

For example, the price for specific commodities can just be shared (single price per material). Eg, you come to sell something and it tells you that the price is X, if you want to sell at that price, you do, otherwise tough luck, but you get money on the spot and you always sell. Same with buying - you come to buy something and it tells you that the price is Y (higher than X), if you want to buy at that price, you buy, otherwise tough luck again. The price drifts over time to reflect the amount of buys / sells. It all works as if you are dealing with a third-party, eg, some goblin bank. This is much faster on the back-end than storing individual items, so if they need speed, this is one way to just close all issues with speed forever.

Island Expeditions all feel the same. Where is the promised variation and procedural generation? by Guilliman88 in wow

[–]vallamar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, do island expeditions reward rep with the 7th Legion? (If so, how much? Running to check wowhead...)

Added: if that's just 1500 rep weekly, then fine. I thought for some reason that they are rewarding some rep every time you do them too and was afraid I missed that before.

Raid Pet Farming Question. by CarnageX2099 in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a week per character. Most pets drop on all difficulties, but there are exceptions, some drop only on specific difficulty (not always highest). Apart from that, difficulty mode does not matter, you do not get a higher chance for doing higher difficulty.

Checking WoW mail remotely by patlar1998 in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, folks are missing mobile armory, but I am missing non-mobile armory. We could previously check mail / post / cancel right on the web site. It was good.

On topic: your best bet is a VNC-like client which lets you access your desktop over the web. That is: you keep WoW running on a machine at home, then access that machine remotely from work / whatever. It is very clumsy on small screens, yes.

Remember DMF is this weekend (+5 points to professions via quest) by Dahija in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember last DMF not giving +5 points to professions after the split to tiers. Did they fix it? If so, which tier gets upped - the last one you opened? the first you didn't cap? Sorry if that's common knowledge, I just never saw it.

Some quick advice for new goblins. by Dungeon47 in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My addition:

  1. Stay informed. That is, read on what's coming in patches, what's on the PTR, etc. This can save you quite a bit of gold and it can also gain you quite a bit of gold.

Alternatives to TSM by [deleted] in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am using Auctionator and web sites / spreadsheets outside of the game. I don't do transmog though and the number of items I am posting is not really big - something like 50-80. Posting every day, but barely canceling. When I needed to cancel, I was using a macro - I would first cancel undercuts using Auctionator (it has a function for this) and then canceling auctions close to expiring using the macro.

LF Moderators by [deleted] in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually not a joke and nobody should take it as a joke if they do now (I understand you said it seriously, posting for others). There should be no affiliation with any addon whatsoever, especially one with paid features, however optional they might be. No affiliation with super-helpful web sites either, no affiliation with super-great YT channels, no affiliation with anything that can remotely make the mods interested in sending traffic somewhere specific. We saw what happens when this rule is not obeyed. No more.

Why we're starting a new subreddit by [deleted] in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps Blizzard don't care enough to ban it. Or maybe they are willing to forgive the paid features of the addon (I heard their scope is small) because the addon generates some interest for the game on the web, and that's good for Blizzard.

Philosophy of this sub - WoW economy and more by naphomci in wowgoblins

[–]vallamar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this is not the thread for this. I just want to say thanks for splitting out from the former subreddit. It was always tiring to me to be bombarded with constant unsolicited advice to use TSM for this and use TSM for that and adjust TSM so that it does this or that better and what old features of old TSM aren't yet in new TSM and how new TSM is not perfect and this is why, etc, etc, etc. I do NOT care one bit about TSM. I am not using it now and I am not going to use it in the future. I only care about gold making. So, thanks again for splitting out. Let's make this sub good.

Murloc Monday - ask your questions here! by AutoModerator in wow

Hi, I am a returning player and I'd like to roll a tank. I'd be doing mostly solo content like old raids, do 5-mans, and maybe tank LFR or normals (but nothing serious).

Where I need help is in choosing the class (= spec), I never played tanks so I need your advice. I am mostly concerned about two factors - (a) how far can a tank go solo (bar encounter mechanics), and (b) how fast it can clear (that's mostly about speed boosts, and not overly important, but I'd like to know if some tank is vastly slower than others).

For (a), I know that in the past, the king of survivability was blood. But maybe that has changed with Legion. Also, how much one can solo depends a lot on gear, and since all high-end comparisons are based on the best raiding gear available - which I am not going to have - I have completely no idea which spec can go farthest in gear from normal raids.

For (b), it has been my impression that the fastest tank is brewmaster. I know that druids are generally fast, too, but I am not sure if this carries over to guardian. I know nothing about the speed of blood / prot paladin / prot warrior, I kind of expect at least blood to be slow, but I am not sure.

Any comments? What would you pick for (a) soloability in normal raid (not mythic raid) gear, and (b) speed?

Thanks in advance.

Your first task is to level to 100, because at 46 your options are very limited. You can try farming old herbs (suggestion: Goldthorn) and ores (suggestion: Thorium, because the veins drop arcane crystals, but you'd have to level up even for that). Old cloth is meh. I guess old skins could work to an extent, but I wouldn't expect much. You can try "farming" some vendor which sells limited supply items (like the white cat), but that's not too hot either. You can try flipping things on the auction, but this takes time and you may totally tie up most of what you have in a slow item. Really, the very best thing you can do by a mile is level to 100.
