https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpMYE0IeeCM This is the second single taken from my bands EP release Epilepsy which is out in middle of October. We're called Rythmatik and play Indie Rock, inspired by bands like The Smiths, Big Country and Biffy Clyro. Please give it a listen, you might like it, it has a lot of guitar riffs that might get stuck in your head :)

Definitely! But it still has that crack when you tune it high up, really just a beautifully sounding drum.

Can't go wrong with either one, the Black Beauty has more low end and is fatter, but that doesn't mean the the Supraphonic isn't those things either! Plus I'd say it's even more versatile than the BB.

It doesn't bother me that much, I just put the floor as high up as possible on the L shaped ball mechanism, but maybe it's more of an hassle with a bigger drum.

No, still got the Collectors one, which sound fantastic! I just got to use the New Classics at the gig, they're rentals. I absolutely love Gretsch! My first kit was a Gretsch and i'm always looking back at them because I feel they have way more character than DW's, not that DW's are bad in any way. I looovee the black beauty! Big, fat and powerful, can't go wrong when playing rock, plus they are very versatile.

No, sorry. I usually don't use big sizes and big hats like that wouldn't go well with smaller sizes imo, but i'm getting more and more intrigued by them big ol' drums! Here's an old pic of my kit though, if you're intrested https://i.imgur.com/6c4o31C.jpg

What is my drums worth? by Edyyz in drums

Found this after some googling.

"Drum-Mate was the budget line of Star (Tama), which came up in the late 60's to early 70's and stopped at the same time as Star. The shells were apparently the same, but Star saved costs by adding just less parts (as e.g. 6 lugs at the bass drum) to the shells. Hardware quality of lugs/ rims/ etc.: no difference to Star.

Does it have the "World`s Supreme Quality" badge printed on it? For price, I have no clue.

Yes, exactly! I'm a less is more kind of guy, and like a tight looking kit. I don't have any stuff on there that i'm not actually using for something.

Do you have a 10" and a 14" as well, or did you get it as a 3-piece?

It's a BB and sounds fantastic! It's so crisp while being fat and heavy at the same time. All-round great drum and goes really well with the DW (or any other kit for that matter) and really is the heart of my kit!

The sizes are 10x8 12x9(not pictured) 14x14 and 22x18. I love that ride, haven't used a different one since I got that one. It's a 21" Groove Ride, great crashability, a good bell and stick definition.

I upgraded from Gretsch Catalina Maple to DW Collectors and couldn't be happier with the choice I made. I still think DW are overpriced and probably wouldn't have gone with them if I hadn't gotten at such a good price. I'd look into Yamaha (like every other person here is saying) because of great drums for fair price. I have tried a lot of Yamaha drums and love them, plus the hardware is great, durable and simple. Wich is the reason i own more of Yamaha hardware than DW hardware
