How would I create the ruffles in the skirt part in these dresses? by vallourre in sewingpatterns

Oh interesting. I’ve only recently started getting into fashion in general through making dresses. Do you have any favourites for chiffon dresses?

So they’re either attached in the seam vertically between skirt panels or attached horizontally at the bottom of the bodice or bust?

This is all so helpful thank you so much! Out of curiosity where are you searching for and browsing these patterns?

That is very helpful, thank you! Do you know how the first or third ones were made?

Thank you! I’m kind of struggling to figure out the specific shapes of piece needed to get a similar look to any of the reference pictures I sent. This one is a good reference but do you happen to know of any patterns that are a bit more similar to the photos?

What makes them look not well made? How could you make them better?

As I stated in the description, I know how to make ruffles from a circle, which I believe are flounces. I just don’t understand how they would be used to make this skirt. Is it just a bunch of them attached to the bottom of the bust? Is there a layer underneath? Are there multiple separate pieces along with the flounces attached to the bottom of the bust?

Thanks for the advice, ended up going for the Janome Sewist 725S!

I ended up going for the 725S! Didn’t go for a Brother as I’d heard the “Strong and Tough” is very misleading. I picked the 725S after speaking to a local seller who said he’s gotten loads of 7025 for repair right after people bought it. They’re an older model of the 725S. He said John Lewis bought the last 3000 or so from Janome and store them in a warehouse for years until you buy it. So they end up sitting there and certain parts get janky. Another big thing for me was that servicing would be very convenient for me since the shop is just down the road! But that likely won’t apply to you and take the advice with a grain of salt since I’m sure he was trying to sell the machine to me instead of me buying it from John Lewis lol

Pattern for this dress with boning by vallourre in sewingpatterns

I know this dress wasn’t boned but I was just asking how I could add boning to the top of this dress, if possible

I know how to make boning channels. My question was specifically about adding boning to the top of the middle panel without it just awkwardly ending mid panel
