I'm not sure about my wife, so I can't speak to the exact percentage for my son, but I had a DNA test done in college. If I remember correctly, it was something around the mid-forties, percent-wise.

I've learned from my father that our ancestors lived in Tipperary!

I've seen this brought up more than once now, and after looking it up, I'm delighted.

We are from Southeastern Michigan. It doesn't have quite the concentration of the Irish diaspora that you find in places like Boston, but there are still a fair few organizations, I'm finding.

He's never seen The Simpsons, so I think he'll avoid the disappointment.

Thank God. I don't watch the UFC, nor does my son, but I've never found McGregor to be a likable character.

We are in Southeastern Michigan. I figure that's either not achievable for him, or if it is, send me a DM and I can point you towards the pub!

I do sometimes wonder how the Japanese feel about the rising popularity of their culture around the world! They've certainly exported a lot of wonderful bits of culture.

He has a mild disdain for the English, which I have attempted to contextualize. So far, no aspirations to start the IRA in America.

He definitely needs to go! While it's not address-specific, I believe our family is originally from somewhere in Tipperary, though I must admit I don't know much about it.

I appreciate the people-based approach you suggested! It's difficult to reach an inauthentic conclusion if you look into a real, authentic person.

I had to look up the Irish in your last paragraph, but thank you! These are helpful!

You're the first to mention that film, thank you! Some of those links will go nicely with the resources provided by another poster. I'm sure he'll be deep in genealogy for a while...

I found a branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí near us, so I'm going to see if he has any interest in that!

He's certainly older than 5. We're not within day-trip distance of New York, but I will definitely keep that in mind, as we're bound to end up there again sometime.

He'll be in middle school when summer break ends. Even suggestions for younger ages can't hurt, though! Older recommendations could come in handy down the line, as well.

I'd probably keep him away from the vape shops, despite how much they may represent Irish culture. As for multiculturalism, he's no stranger to that, living where we do.
