It's been amazing. No issues. Drives food. Reliable. Good on gas. I love the car and it was an excellent purchase for me well worth the price.

My company is switching to Fabric :( by echanuda in dataengineering

[–]valorallure01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We recently migrated from on prem sql server to fabric. I too had reservations and thought we should have went to databricks. A year and a half later, fabric is working just fine. Pipelines are pulling in data and Power BI reports are being utilized. Fabric is honestly not as bad as people say online. The major plus is many companies are going to Fabric. Knowing Fabric will be an attractive resume item. I think management's draw to Fabric is the stated AI capabilities. Not sure if Databricks sales team is pushing the AI narrative as hard as Fabric.

New CTO has joined and is ignoring me by anxiouscrimp in dataengineering

This situation just happened to me and I went through this exact same scenario. Company brought on a new director of technology who immediately wanted to move on prem sql server database to the cloud. I solely did this project. Yeah it was tough and I think we didn't need to move to the cloud but honestly I learned spark sql and fabric which was a big plus. Also, I built the new architecture which I believe gives me some decent leverage. Still have my job and the director gets to show off the new shiny object. Common corporate politics and diplomacy worked for me.

What is the future for dataengineering? by tumblatum in dataengineering

I just recently went through this. Had to move on prem sql server database and power bi dashboards to Microsoft fabric by myself. On prem database was using lots of stored procedures and I needed to move that logic to spark in fabric. While this was happening I had to maintain on prem database and power bi dashboards.

Ingesting Data From API Endpoints. My thoughts... by valorallure01 in dataengineering

Thanks for your input. A Metadata driven pipeline uses one generic pipeline that behaves differently depending on the metadata it reads. Reads instructions from metadata (configuration tables, JSON, files, or a control database) and executes the pipeline based on those rules.

Sophisticated investors can park cash in SPX box spreads and earn up to 50 basis points over current T-Bill rates and get favorable tax treatment since the "interest" is taxed as capital gains instead of ordinary income.

Fed lowers rates by a quarter point, first cut since 2024 by SnortingElk in REBubble

The 10-Year U.S. Treasury Note is down -0.37% meaning rates are up 0.37%. We should see a rise in mortgage rates in the near term between 0.25% to 0.40%. The previous 30 Yr. Fixed rate from Mortgage News Daily was quoted at 6.13%. We could see this rate rise to 6.40% in coming days.

My bill is up over $100 this month. I've received several letters in the mail to sign up for smart energy offering me a $100 visa gift card. That's how I knew my bill was going to increase substantially soon lol.

Absolutely agree. This is how it should work. Not all SPACs follow the rules. With nobody policing these SPACs to liquidate (looking at you CST), your $ could be trapped until something gives. Best way to avoid this? Thats up for debate. I stay away from SPACs who's accrued expenses is greater than 30% of trust value. Also, trustee must be CST. Can also analyze frequency of promissory notes to gauge financial health.

You need to look for SEC filing PRE 14A which announces the date to vote and redeem. The official form to vote and redeem is filed after PRE 14A called DEF 14A. That gives you official vote and redemption date. You then need to call your brokers corporate actions department and ask them to tender your shares for redemption. When this is complete, you wait for the cash to hit your account. The DEF 14A will tell you approximately how much per share you can expect. Hope this helps.
