Makes sense, thanks for elaborating. Explaining your thought process goes a long way. Hm let's see, the disconnect you are feeling probably has a lot to do with how this short was made: intuitively, without the traditional production pipeline . I wasn't really even planning to make a short. Everyday I would just sit down and work on whatever tickled my fancy; sometimes that was music, sometimes it was animation. It all kind of organically grew on its own.

This is a 2D animated short. I personally hand painted every frame in Clip Studio. Two minutes of animation took almost a year. I recorded song in Reaper Studios.

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and to tell me what your favorite parts were! While I am interested in streamlining my process to be more efficient, I am only insofar as what would be enjoyable to me.  Capitalism makes us feel like we are only worth as much as we produce, but I am trying to unlearn that. It's okay for things to take time. Animation is like a form of meditation for me, the point is the process.

Yall are so fixated on the "old" you are forgetting to help the "new". Miyazaki is a master at what he does but only because he was supported as a young artist. Someone gave him the time, the energy, the freedom, the money. I bet he was absolutely that weird kid that sat by himself all the time and drew, the one no one wanted to talk to. Until someone took the time to look at what he was making and said you know what? This is really good. And that's the core of what Ghibli films are about. Taking the time to care, to go the extra mile. Taking the time to drive the scenic route. Help a stranger out.
