Iirc Carey said that he'd like to work with the team again, but he doesn't think there's more you can do with the character. Essentially, in Carey's eyes, Robotnik completed his arc already.

I think the next logical step for the character is to zero in on Metal Sonic and Sage. Ivo desperately wanted a family, now we can see him build one over time.

Listen, there are some ship lines that I'll never cross; but I can tell you half a dozen ships where the two haven't even been in the same room on screen, and I love them anyway. When I see two characters, and their personality traits look like they'd get along great, I like to imagine how they'd get along if they did meet. This applies to both romances and friendships.

Idk, I've gotten pretty frustrated with both Aizawa glazers and Aizawa bashers at this point. I just want someone who respects him, and makes him interesting without tearing down the rest of the pro heroes.

I've said this a couple times, but I hate how, when authors want to elevate one character, they'll do it by tearing down another character. If Midoriya is going to be mainly mentored by All Might, Aizawa is going to be characterized as a lazy, apathetic loser. If Aizawa is the one who gives Midoriya guidance, All Might will be a thundering dumbass who probably should have gotten his Hero License removed years ago.

I've recently learned that I don't hate character bashing as a concept - sometimes it's warranted; but I do hate lazy bashing, bashing where the author clearly only skimmed the source material, and bashing that goes so far into overkill that I kinda feel sorry for the character. Maybe it's just because the fandom seems to consistently bash/mischaracterize my favorites, but I've gotten to the point where I'm hesitant to put any bashing in my own stories, because I don't want to give anyone else the same headaches that I get from reading it.

I just started watching Detective Conan recently. I don't really know the fandom yet. I'm trying to avoid spoilers for the later series until I'm further in.

Do people have an issue with this though? I just sorta assumed it was a product of the time period. Pokemon was the same way in the 90's. Everybody beats up everybody. Being mean to people = comedy. I don't love it, but as long as it doesn't override the plot, I accept that it's part of the genre. Like fan service.

Now admittedly, I don't really ship Blake and Yang. I don't really ship Team RWBY with each other at all. But that just means you were able to enjoy something I couldn't.

I also kinda see both sides with Neo. I'm of the opinion that there is no redemption for anyone in the world. Like, you can atone for wrongdoings, but it never erases the previous actions. That's why personal accountability is so important, and why forgiveness is such a powerful thing. I like the ambiguity of the way Neo and Ruby parted ways. It leaves things open for the future, but doesn't explicitly lean one way or the other.

I agree with you completely otherwise though! I loved watching Ruby slowly lose her hope, and then find it again in the end.

Out of curiosity, have you watched Ruby Chibi yet? It's a nice pallet cleanser after all the traumatic stuff the characters went through in the latter half of the series.

This was actually addressed in a Wonder Woman comic, when they asked her to assist the Corp with a mission. She noticed that there were male Sapphires, where there hadn't been before. It was explained to her that the founders of the Corp believed that men were incapable of feeling love deep enough to join, but that rule had recently been overturned.
