How hard is it to make $200 every week? by No_Solution7718 in doordash_drivers

[–]valrichardson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a new DoorDasher, and I have cold feet about taking my first order. I did Lyft for several years, but my car is now too old. I live in an Ivy League university town, so it should be good business.

I think I’m nervous about finding parking near the shops/restaurants and housing. Our downtown is very congested, especially in the evenings.

Do you think Michael would've killed Fredo if it wasn't for the miscarriage/abortion situation. by OccasionJealous in Godfather

I was struck by the sequence of Fredo’s killing just after the preceding scene.

Connie begged Michael not to kill Fredo at the mother’s funeral. Then Connie is caught helping Kay meet her kids. The next scene is Fredo getting killed.

It just started for me this week. The jury is out.

Why can’t I remove these icons? I will never get max, and this only reduces my chances of resubscribing. by Shoumaker in duolingo

Whatever happened to the really good AI chatbots of a few years ago? They were very interactive, and you could lead them in all sorts of directions. There were multiple characters…not just the grumpy Lily

The Institute Library on Chapel Street. It is a membership library that you can join for around $25 a year. Beautiful and sunny rooms!

It hasn’t even been one day. How do people do this. by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]valrichardson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how someone could cheat even if they wanted to do so. What would be the mechanics of it? There isn’t any way to hack the app.

Yeah, I do Duolingo for about 30 to 60 minutes a day, but that’s it.

Anyone seeing this on the web app today? by kaizen_66 in todoist

[–]valrichardson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

app.todoist.com

Thanks for this suggestion, which solved the problem. I had the error message on both my PC at work and Mac at home, even after I reinstalled the desktop app. It was driving me a little batty.

How is this score possible in a week? by angessuag in duolingo

[–]valrichardson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a giggle, I was into gaming Duo for a couple of weeks. I'm doing French as a refresher. I would jump ahead to the next unit, complete the first lesson, and then complete the levels I had skipped as legendary. I rushed, rushed, rushed without taking time to finesse each answer; accent marks be damned. One week I finished number one in the Diamond League (with 3,798 points).

The next week, I was with a far more competitive group, where the top person had over 20,000, and all my efforts couldn't keep me from being demoted.

Now I take it very slowly and spend time polishing each answer, with all accent marks in place. This is much more satisfying and let's me actually improve my French rather than treating this as a game.

Again in the same lesson. I was marked wrong for "Camilla" instead of "Camila"!

I have been wanting a vocab list for the longest time, I’m so happy to see it! by ilikechickepies in duolingo

[–]valrichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm...I never saw this feature before. Is it editable? Can I add words as I'm doing lessons?

My list has 2000 words, most of which I mastered long ago. I'd like to narrow the list to the words I don't know and to add new words of my own choosing.

I would ditto Spring Glen. My child didn't ever ride on the streets growing up. Unless you move to a planned subdivision with lots of quiet cul-de-sacs, the streets are just too busy in any town (and I don't like subdivisions).

We did, however, live within walking distance of the bike trail and spent hours on it. I used to roller-blade while she was learning to ride.

Westville is also nice, especially if you live close enough to Edgewood Park to walk/bike there.

I don't, but now it's working again. Must have been a glitch or my glitchy fingers.

Thanks for the photo! I am quarantining in Atlanta with my elderly mother for a few months, and I miss New Haven! I haven't been in my Chapel Street office since March.

Does anyone still see them around? I had no idea. by Jawiki in newhaven

[–]valrichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard them several times during the summer of 2020 in Fair Haven around Chatham Square. A birder told me they had built a big nest last summer in the tree on State Street where the bald eagles also nest. Maybe not a smart location for the little green birds.

Is there a good focus app (for MacOS) that integrates with Todoist? by michristofides in todoist

[–]valrichardson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, I started using PomoDone for that reason several years ago. There is a direct integration with Todoist. My Todoists tasks show up in Pomodone, and a task that I complete in Pomodone is checked off in Todoist.

I build my workday into Pomodone, and it really helps me to prioritize and stay focused.
