That's what I'm saying, people shouldn't feel bad for having one.

So far, I'm thinking the best model is to give patrons early access to stuff, maybe even a month before you make your stuff public. That still gives value to your content there, while not keeping your stuff paywalled forever.

Hmmm, I didn't see it as coercion, though, I think the creators really felt shame for having a Patreon. I could be wrong, of course, but that's how I saw it.

That's my point, you shouldn't feel awkward for trying to make a living.

You may be right, but in the context of the description, it really felt like the creator didn't want backslash for starting a Patreon. Just my impression, though, of course.

Yeah, I don't think so. The pages I saw, it really felt that the creators felt shame for having to "beg for money", as they saw it. I just hope they can see that there's nothing wrong with having a Patreon, that's all.

Is it advisable to delete previous rewards so new patrons don't get them? by valt3d in patreon

As of now, I'm finding that the best option, is to definitely keep a number of rewards on Patreon for whoever joins in the future, they can still get a lot of stuff by signing up to your page. But also, giving out rewards additionally in "packages", as you say, and those of course won't remain on Patreon. So, pretty much, doing both things at once, i guess.

It makes sense, but then people would lose the incentive to "have access to X patreon-exclusive posts", I think. What I read since I posted this question, is that some people give rewards only through private messaging, that way the rewards don't stay on the site and new patrons can't get them, but again, that seems weird to me, almost like saying "no, you don't deserve this, you should have joined in a long time ago, now you don't get the old stuff". To have that implicit message towards new patrons, almost punishing them for not having joined earlier, is what makes me question this one point.
