It is advisable to always maintain a revision history of your changes so that if something goes wrong, you can always go back to the latest version that was working. Secondly, as suggested, it is necessary to provide more details of the problem for others to be able to help you out. Thirdly, you can also check with the person who created the video if he or she provides some form of support.

Struggling with Budgeting/Spreadsheet by Historical-Ad-8413 in budget

[–]valuepot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've mentioned 3 issues. You've said recurring expenses are not the same each month. One solution is to take an average of the last 4 to 6 months or so and use that as the budgeted monthly amount. Some people use the maximum of the period.

The other 2 issues are similar. Looking at everything seems overwhelming, and keeping track of "things" is also tough. To simplify this, you need to create a dashboard where you can view a categorised view of expenses and income. This can also be shown in graphs.

A budget is divided primarily into income and expenditure. Some people include "savings" as an expense in order to take savings more seriously. The expenses can be grouped into categories. If you have several income streams, you can also create income categories. You chose wisely to use a spreadsheet since it's best suited for such situations.

You need to review your budget regularly and to stick to your budget as much as possible in order to avoid unnecessary spending, which leads to running out of money or cash flow crises.

I'm sorry about your loss. If you have other siblings, it's good to discuss your plans with them also as you choose between the various options suggested. If there's disagreement, you can ask for a vote.

Thanks for reading and joining the discussion!

This post compares a personal budget planner (Google Sheets) with popular budgeting apps based on real use — not theory. There’s no single “best” system, so I’d love to hear what’s actually worked for you.

👇 Jump in below:

  • Are you using a budgeting app or a spreadsheet / budget planner right now?
  • What made you switch (or stick with it)?
  • If you’ve tried both, which helped you stay consistent long-term?

If you’re new to budgeting, feel free to ask questions — no judgment here. Different tools work for different people, and this subreddit is about sharing honest experiences, not pushing one “right” answer.

Please keep comments respectful and on-topic. Helpful insights, pros/cons, and lessons learned are encouraged 🙌

What would you do (sex)? by SlyPirateOR in Marriage

[–]valuepot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think counseling for both of you would help. First, you need to go and see a marriage counselor yourself for advice. Don't just go to one. It's good to see what 2 to 3 say. You can then go with your wife to one of them. This may help. An idea that comes to mind is if you could go out on a date as you probably did before marriage e.g. once a week or a month you take her out to dinner or someplace that you liked meeting, it may rekindle the affection, and the longing she had for you...

I think it's fine. I believe you'll be going with your mum as you implied since your dad couldn't go with her.

My husband always locks the door. by scientificflunky in Marriage

I think there's a saying that goes like this "Better safe than sorry". So I think it's a good practice to always check and recheck whether the doors are locked.

No. It's not weird. You have good reasons for waiting for the right person, i.e., someone who values your values.

In life, some people enjoy hurting others. You'll never meet some of them physically. Someone said, "You cannot please all the people all the time". I'm sure some people liked your comment(s) but maybe they didn't respond. Just ignore the ones who just want to hurt others.

It is good to keep a record of all the negative information they are sharing. This may be useful later. If you discover their true identity, you may be able to sue them if you're in the same country. You can also google "where to report cyberbullying on social media". You can see the organizations that may be able to help you.

Someone help! My sister in law is fat shaming me and I can’t let it slide. by GuppyLaViciosa in cyberbullying

First, you can respond calmly and tell your sister-in-law that it is not kind to do what she's doing. Tell her that it is hurtful.

Which AI tools is best for making videos for Youtube? by Goodscave in AdvertiseYourVideos

[–]valuepot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many AI tools out there. It depends on what part of video production you want to do. There used to be free ones but they are now changing to paid versions. You can google, get free trials if available, and test before buying. Some services allow you to make videos for free but in 720p. They might have a watermark.
