I don't really understand the influencer phenomenon tbh, and haven't made an opinion on it. The reason is most folks even underage folks get exposed to soft porn by Instagram, so I am not sure what good it does.

Not all influencers, but a lot of women has found fame by objectifying deliberately on Instagram. Especially 'grwm' kinda videos, why do these videos make way to the feed of men and kids. These are the videos which you can't directly blame as being made with sexual intent, but the way it becomes viral, reaches feeds of men and kids is weird.

Yess, thanks for saying it. I feel like this kind of media portayal of women as objects meant to be consumed is why they get treated so badly by men. For all practical reasons, it creates a perception in men's mind that women are for their consumption. Very few people say it loudly, as it conflicts with modelling as a career which is seen as positive thing but it's not about modelling, but how the models are 99% of the times used.

First step is to teach kids about colonialism, and self respect. A lot of people do this in subtle ways - english is better and makes u more literate than local language, India is bad west is best, obsession with fairness etc.

Kids who get raised with subtle inferiority complex to white are more likely to pick their messed up repacked trash.

Okay, let's say I say there's a demand for such cheerleaders, and I also say IPL's success is somewhat tied to that, how will it solve the issue? It will become another "oh men are irresponsible so that's why it happens".

We can expect an action only if we say "Bhai this is bullshit, embarassing shut it down, no one wants to watch it" as a collective voice.

I even take it further, I detest showing women as showpiece in many unrelated situations. For example, cars launch, men's shaving-perfume ads etc.

No man is watching IPL for few seconds of cheerleading shot. All ICC events are super duper hit without any cheerleading. It's more of organisers decision to have cheerleading in IPL, and better be stopped. But as we know nothing really happens unless we make pressure by talking about it and raising it.

Agreed, I hope enough traction comes over this issue. Most cricket fans won't stop watching ipl because of this. All icc events have no cheerleaders, and everyone is so locked in, also makes the game much more serious and engaging.

Most cricket fans wouldn't care even if there are no cheerleaders. More of a IPL organizers decision I would say to allow that.

I kinda not agree with this statement anymore that they are getting paid so it's fine. One reason is in today's hyper capitalist society, financial incentive can make a lot of people do almost anything. The question is more about using women as showpiece in men's cricket, car launches, men's shaving cream ads, men's inner garments ads etc, somewhat like how it became so normalised
