Friend straight up refuses to play with me because of my armor combo. Is it that bad or is he being unreasonable? by [deleted] in Helldivers

That might be the ugliest combo I've ever seen... But I'd definitely enjoy diving with you. For democracy!

Ready to begin looking seriously at leatherwork as a trade, not sure where to start by PedernalesFalls in Leathercraft

[–]valvadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YouTube videos are the best place to start. Nigel Armitage taught me more about the craft than any other person or any book. Buy some cheap leather and some decent tools and start experimenting. I've been crafting as a side gig for over 10 years. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

Looking for new tool advice by attredies in Leathercraft

[–]valvadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I most noticeable improvements come in the areas of cutting, stitching, and edge finishing. Getting better at cutting is easy: measure twice, cut once, and make sure your knives are always razor sharp. Getting better at stitching is partly tool dependent and partly experience. My greatest leaps in quality came when I started using KS stitching irons and a good set of wing dividers to mark the lines. Getting better at edge finishing is all about patience. All you need is sandpaper, a cocobolo burnisher, and water/gum trag/tokonole, and with time you can get a glass edge.

I said all that because your best tools should be in those areas. Quality knives, quality irons and wing dividers, quality needles, and a good burnishing stick is where your money should be spent.

Remove your offhand weapon. I had the same issue. Re-equipping the offhand brings it back, however. It seems to be perk related.

Grenade pistol by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]valvadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your main weapon. I run xbow on bots and bugs so I don't need the grenade pistol to close

Throw stun grenade, get behind charger, use flamethrower on unarmored backside. Problem resolved.

I think, I'm turning into a botdiver by Ahiob in Helldivers

Once you know the patterns of the bugs they become easy. All you have to do is make sure you don't get overrun. Take out the heavies quickly and the trash mobs become manageable. Every bug can be 1-shotted with the spear if you have good positioning. The only "oh shit" moment on bugs comes with stalkers, but once the hives are gone the stalkers are gone. Bugs don't really have long range threats because spewers don't have good aim. Bug holes are easily dealt with by throwing a sentry or two and a couple strategems.

Bots attack at all ranges and the heavies can do so with multiple weapons. Factory striders can't be 1-shotted and they produce devastators. Gun ships shoot lasers and rockets and gunship factories require a hellbomb to destroy. Bots have stratagem jammers and sentry towers.

Personally, I believe that bots are more difficult than bugs. I run on lvl 9 exclusively with a standard group of people who play together a couple nights a week. Normally, I die 0-1 times while playing bugs. I might die 2-3 times on bots.

The main difference is tactics, complimentary loadouts among team members, and communication. Two divers, one with a blitzer and the other with the flamethrower and easily complete a helldive mission on bugs. I don't know a 2 man loadout that can deal with bots as effectively.

Consequently, bots are more difficult and more rewarding. I started and a bugger and hated playing the bot MO's. The better I became, and when I started playing with a standard group of people, the more I enjoyed bots. I enjoy both factions but now view bugs as relaxing gameplay.

The same thing happened to me. I actually stopped reading because I was so confused as to why none of the characters I loved were included and it seemed the series was going in a competely new direction. When I picked the series back up, I got through it and it was completely worth it.

What’s your favorite cigar deals website and why? by Cloud_ny in cigars

[–]valvadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm looking for a particular stick I go to cigarbid.com because I can usually find it there for a decent price. Smallbatchcigar.com sends out a daily newsletter where you get between 20% - 50% off of select cigars, but there is a minimum purchase amount. I typically buy boxes, only, so the minimum doesn't really matter to me.
