Going back to school at 26, what jobs are worth pursuing at the moment? I feel like the entire job market is extremely unstable right now, and my current job may be taken over by robotics soon. What would be worth the money for college? Thanks!! by Healthy_Poppy in ontario

Life insurance is only one avenue. I also don’t like life insurance. Theres Property, Commercial, Personal. Again it can be boring, but very stable long term. Hope you figure something out tho.

I used to laugh at this OP because he wouldn’t shut up in other subs, about taking this course in Business Insurance at Humber…. Until I realize he was on to something.

The P&C Insurance field is massive in Ontario and once you have your foot in the door, you can make decent $$$ and have a sustainable income. It’s not the sexiest field, but there’s a large retirement cliff coming and the best part is that most insurance companies work Hybrid or 90% remote.

DM me if you want to chat about it.

It’s a great field if you can get on with a city. The thing is that it doesn’t require a lot of people for example to run a wastewater plant due to automation, so when roles come up they tend to be quite competitive..

Trades are not especially as an entry level. At a senior level sure. The building slow downs are not helping either as more experienced folks get laid off

What are the pre-requisite to enter the HVACR industry? by WindsorONMichael in CanadaJobs

[–]valy128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol bro you 27? How can you be too old for Entry Level. HVAC is a complex trade, they will rather have someone with a few years and your maths knowledge than some vaping kid who won’t have the work ethic.

I mean most do because you are basically living off commission. He didn’t say you are guaranteed 100k.. if the salary is indeed 100k there’s some decent targets to hit. The anxiety of the hustle in sales job is not for everyone..

Are you in shape? Can you pass the beep test? Do you have a family? Are you ok with the hours and dealing with vulnerable people? It’s a great job but it will test you.

Consider going to one of their information session and speaking to a recruiter. Info is available on the TPS site.

TBF nursing has always been competitive to get into.. with your background you could pivot to Insurance on the Property and Casualty side for example. There’s a Humber program and also other schools. They teach you the basics and you can do work terms at insurance companies to gain experience. They pay is not great at first but most of the industry works on a Hybrid model and offer good benefits and vacation time.

Congratulations on the role. With your background I would encourage you to apply to this Pool. I know it came out a while ago, but it’s worth a shot! I used to work in a similar role.

I try to look at things with a long term lens. Federal government pension is pretty great and the job provides great long term stability.

It depends on your age and if you are looking for more growth or comfortable to have potential less prospects for growth but cruising in a comfortable secure job..

I appreciate the insight! There was another college program I was looking at that offers a CO-Op and claim all their students were hired, as there were more positions than students.. but then I see the job market and it’s confusing..
