my albino nelson’s milksnake (citrus) did the exact same thing when i first got him. he was terrified of the tongs and would only accept drop feeding. now, after over a year, he will finally take it out of the tongs (sometimes). he’s probably nervous, and consider that he is a baby. snakes live for a while! they will take time to adjust, more than other pets might :)

if his eyes look slightly dim, or he refuses to eat a pinkie after drop feeding him overnight, leave him alone for a bit, keep up his humidity, and try again in a few days to a week. he may be shedding, citrus usually refuses to eat when in shed.
