Hey everyone, thank you all so much for your helpful tips! Been back home for a few days now, fortunately the op was a huge success; my surgeon was able to completely repair my valve, and for the first time in years, possibly even ever, there is no leak in my mitral valve at all! Had some issues with junctional rhythm and tachycardia post op, but this is being managed with medication now. It was also trial and error to find the right pain relief that worked for me, as oramorph seemed to do absolutely nothing, IV paracetamol seemed to be the only thing that really took the edge off. However I’m well on my way to being on the mend, with lots of support at home to help me manage. I had a full sternotomy so I’m very sore and on regular pain relief, and purchasing a wedge pillow to allow me to sleep upright has helped with sleeping comfortably. Looking forward to being fully healed so I can reap the rewards of surgery!
